Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
The fields we played on have not been mowed and were not well lined. The grass was tall enough we had to talk about it before every game...it still impacted play...combination of tired boys and tall grass was not great. I understand that letting grass grow taller in the Texas summer is necessary...but it was tough to play as a surface. Texas in August can make for a tough venue...and they seemed a bit stretched for officials...

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
With the tournament this large it is a lottery what kind of surface you will get. We got lucky and had 4 games at TSC, though 1 was on the AstroTurf at 3.30 :-( The UTD field we played on was not bad. Certainly better than the cabbage patch we call Richland.
The tournament has become a monster. They should call it the Metroplex Labor Day Tournament with all the different fields they are using. I don't know how you find enough officials for so many games. Thankfully the weather has cooperated and it has run smoothly from what I have seen.

We almost pulled off Silver A (green). Tough fight against a good Genesis team. We were the bride's maid again though. Maybe next year we'll win this thing. Good to see a lot of NTX teams in the semis and the finals in our age group. Way to go North Texas!

Looks like you guys had a great time down there in Austin. Congrats on winning your division, with no goals scored on you all weekend! Tell that defense congrats.
Ready to get the season started.

We had a good weekend. Both offensively and defensively. 20 GF 0 Goals Against. I just want to see if it can translate to league play and games around these parts. We will know in a few months if Austin was the beginning of something special.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
Despite my previous post about the fields, I would like to congratulate the Plano Labor Day Tournament for putting on, in my opinion, the highest quality tournament I have seen in North Texas.
Now I have only been here for just under two years but the quality of play was of a very high standard from both Texas and out of State teams. Congratulations to all the teams for making this a great tournament.
Lastly well done to Liverpool Rush as U13 Plano Labor Day Champions. This team does its business quietly without any TX soccer forum drama.
Looking forward to a great season!!

Silver A Blue: NEOFC 02 (Computer) Blue: Tough to go with out of towners in a strong division, but going against the odds because a portion of their name matches the division name.
Silver A Green: LP (Arnold) Toshack 03: A top 03 team playing in the third 02 division. Double down here.
Silver B: Lobos Rush: That's right - I am going with a TN team whose coach's name is Butch to win (the division) in a soccer tourney. Looks like they are from Memphis, so my certain prediction is that they will complain about the local BBQ.
Gold: LP Rush, but enough said. These guys are good. They didn't win their bracket, but came-in as a Wildcard and took First. Good for them. Congrats to Fagen and his boys.
Silver A (Blue): FCD Central. Spiars has done a great job with this team. NEOFC Blue is a tough/fast team and for FCD to beat them in the quarter finals as their 3rd game of the day says a lot. Both finalists from last year (Azzurri and DTX Red South) were in the semi's, but eliminated by FCD and Mexico, respectively. D2 will be interesting this year.
Silver A (Green): Barcelona. Congrats to these guys. Interesting mix of D3 and PPL1/2. People have already chimed in. The 16-1 loss by HPSA Scots was a bit wacky. Not sure what happened there.
Silver B: GSA Force (TXS). Finals between 2 non-NTX teams, so I really don't know much. Great job regardless with some good competition.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
I struggle a bit with Mexico and DTS at the bottom, they are both good teams. I didnt get to see either of them play this weekend, so I cant comment. I would offer DTS had the worst showing. Mexico lost in the top Silver Division final to FCD Central, who from what I hear has really recruited some great talent.
My bigger struggle is Solar Red. I have not seen them play and I dont know how many (if any) guest players they have had at tournaments this summer. I guess once Classic starts we will know for sure...maybe all the talent left DTS and went to Solar Red...lol...

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
D1 are all supposed to be "good teams".
The collapse of Dallas Texans South was the exits to PA and other parents with so-so players seeing the writing on the wall and got out before that ship sank.
I could wrong, but Futbolista himself stated that only 4 players returned. So if the Texans had 12 kids exit, did all 12 go to PA?
I doubt it.
These folks scrambled.

I can't answer for them... We're happy to have them and they're already making nice contributions and are very solid nice kids and families.
Take care!

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
There are 9 DTS players who went to the Texans PA, they had all planned on going together from the get go. 2 players went to Liverpool Owen, one was because of lack of playing time and the other was because the DTS coach allowed him to guest play with Owen all year last year. We all know how that works, usually when a player guest plays, they are heavily recruited into playing with that team. There was one other player that went to Solar PA because it was a better fit. The DTS team had much success, no sense of staying in classic league again and again. Coach Adames has a good 02 team, but they have some learning to do. I definitely wouldn't call it "the collapse" when it was planned from the beginning. Good Luck to everyone, although DTS might not win it all Again this year, they will be just fine.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
Anyway.
@ Liverpool_Parent,
Your team will do fine.
Haters are gonna hate.
Heck, one day I might even shake your hand.
Classic League D1 will be fun this year.
All of the non-PA survivors have to step up their game.
According to TrophyHummer, you guys Cherry Picked a DTS player also?
I guess the "South" has no honor.

It seems you nailed it correctly on where everyone left to Trophyhunter. The previous team had a load of talented players but have taken their talents elsewhere with the majority going to PA. So 12 new players on a team can be at a slight disadvantage to the teams who are returning with the majority of their squads from last season. From what I have seen over the weekend D1 is full of very strong teams. It won't be easy for any team. I believe the same is for Solar Red who also had a few players return from previous season. Its pretty much a new team too. I want to say good luck to all the teams in Classic this season.

No ma'am.
None at all.
DT South has a great coach. BB knows and like some of the kids.
Liverpool is a pretty good team. They did win Austin Labor Day (Gold Division).
I have no ill will for these youngsters.
