Challenge 2015

20 teams so a nice even number of 5 groups of 4. List of teams (Classic based on finish) and the rest based on Got Soccer Points. ( I know everyone complains about their Point System. It's pretty close on the youthsoccerankings as well. So We will use Got Soccer.
So whis the plan for the following week. I am thinking 1st 2 in each bracket plus 2 wild cards.

So 12 teams go through to knockout stages. Then 6 and then 3.
It should be 5 group winners through plus 3 wild cards. So 8 then 4 and then 2 in final

ARSENAL SC 02B (Tony Falcon) will make it.
Tony's ALL about Development, and loses a lot of good kids due to over-eager parents who want their BB's in Classic League ASAP.

I think the goal is to get the 6 teams that make up the Classic selection team. As a result not looking for a winner or a final. We just need to trim the list to 6 from 20.

It will be interesting on what they decide.

I'm actually with Liverpool "Dirty South" Owen.
Tony did great things for my oldest BB.
He went from a Big, Strong (not fast) defender, to a skilled, ball-handling Midfielder/Sweeper with confidence.
After Tony left the Texans, he didn't just leave the team high and dry. He contacted other coaches to take his boys.

I just hope we have some good weather leading up to and through the tournament.  Not complaining, we needed the rain, but makes it hard to get games in.

Marvelousmar, I thought you were a Barcelona fan at heart? Good luck to you in the tournament.

Anybody know what happened with Mansfield Revolution?  Did they just not get signed up in time or did they choose not to try and requalify?  Just curious.

1. Yep we need the rain but enough already.

2. Favourite team Arsenal. Favourite German team. FCB. Favourite Spanish Team. Barcelona. Team I would love a chance to play again in August at Richland mmm. That list is long. I just hope we play as well as I know we can. We had a good weekend in Georgetown . But we will give it the college try. Maybe just maybe.

3. Was wondering about Mansfield myself. I have my thoughts but I don't enjoy spreading any discussions on this board with out facts to support it.

So much for the nice even numbers.  There are now 21 accepted teams on the website.  Infinity FC has been added.  I'm going to need a calculator.

its money !!! need I say more just remember "fixed" rosters will run rampant in CL especially with the indie teams so get use to it those things will never change

One group of 5 having.to play 4 games or 7 groups of 3 or 3 by 5 and 2 by 3. Lots of math.

All the guessing can stop the schedule is out.

Come on Debit. Soon is like the Sun. It will come out tomorrow tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there be sun. When I am stuck with a day that's gray and lonley. I just stick out my chin and grin and say. I cancel a tourney tomorrow tomorrow and then the sun will come out and the format will follow very soon.

I would guess maybe top 2 and 2 wild cards I don't know.

Top 2 plus 2 wild cards makes sense. That would take 12 to the 2nd weekend and make 3 groups of 4 then the top 2 from each group earns that which is so strongly desired.

Hope your player that took the knock at the end of Sunday's friendly is bouncing back quickly this week. Junior debit took the intensity level a bit over the top on that tackle. Good luck this weekend.

Well I think the pressure just got that much higher. If I read the link correctly You have to find a way to get it done in week 1. Win your bracket to get one of five spots. Now they say that only 6 spots are up for grabs but their method seems to leave 7. 5 2nd place finishers play each other in week 2 with the top two making it into the league. I think that makes 7. Can the Classic league clarify. It's going to be a tough weekend. Where every mistake will be magnified. Well it's time to really stop and think this through as each game magnifies. Oh boy.....

It's interesting how Classic League changes it format from year to year. If I recall correctly, last year no team qualified (in the 02s) after the first weekend--you had to have success over two weekends to earn the spot. Maybe these decisions are somewhat affected by the weather--reduce the number of games since who knows when the fields will be playable?

Many teams will know their fate by Saturday night after just one game...

You do remember correctly. At least we found out the format before the.first kick. I think rain had to have played.into the decision

Marvelous, it looks like Classic League cleaned up the wording on the website regarding the second weekend. Bracket winner gets the final spot so:

Weekend 1 - 5 bracket winners get byes. 5 second place teams advance to next weekend. Third and Fourth place teams immediately disband and players begin looking

Weekend 2 - Bracket winner gets bye.

Ouch Debit but with only 6 spots out of 21 the math just is not good for most of the teams entering. With most classic teams in.brackets that make them significant favourites. The poor Plano teams and Apl teams have their work ahead of them as folks have continued to.remind me about the vast difference between Plano and APL have the Plano and Apl teams.just donated to the Classic league fund. Mmm let's go down memory lane. 1st place Classic was a Plano team and has made.some.adjustments to the roster so kers not count that one. I think 3rd was also a Plano side Longview. And a couple of high.ranking teams .in 2 were Plano sides and both teams have had similar rosters to what they have had for a few years. I think of the 10 in classic half or more were in Plano or APL. So maybe there is hope this weekend for the Plano and APL teams. They do have the odds against them but I am pulling for them maybe because I just love the under dogs. Especially those rhat finished 9th and 10th in Plano this season.... Davito thanks for the luck as the math doesnt favour us. Thank God its not math and we are playing the beautiful game that allows. For giant killers every now and then.
