I looked at the NTX Soccer tourney calendar and didn't see Dr. Pepper Fair Play listed.... is it even happening this year?

This tournament has a big draw and will be competitive but a Plano/Arlington team should be just fine participating in this tournament. Fields are high quality.

You didn't say where you were, but the AYSES tourney is allegedly going to be moved to their new facility which is way out in far east McKinney. The Fair Play has been at PHP and other somewhat closer locales. In case this makes a difference.

The Fair Play usually draws some bigger names, but I think either would be good for an APL/PPL team.

But, then you have to deal with Sammy's wife to get registered and stay registered. Be sure to keep your proof of purchase, and I suggest hand delivering your check. GET A RECEIPT!

Actually, don't waste your time and energy. Just go to a differrent touranment.

If looking on the NTX Soccer Calendar make sure you are in the correct month. Both are in August and they are on the calender.

97 Texas Summer Classic -vs- Dr. Pepper Fair Play Empty Re: 97 Texas Summer Classic -vs- Dr. Pepper Fair Play

Our sons (93, 95, 98) have played in both of these tournaments. We never experienced any registration problems with either and the competition has varied each year. The competition is more even when they manage gold and silver divisions. They can't promise that in advance. Our coaches and managers have considered these factors:
1. Location. The NTX website indicates that this year's Fair Play tournament is in Cedar Hill, while the AYSES tournament is supposed to be at the Fairview complex.
2. Dr. Pepper Fair Play plays shorter halves until semi-finals. I believe they were 10 minutes shorter than regulation. The AYSES tournament features full length games.
3. The AYSES tournament can be a long day. We have had games at 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The worst was after 10:00 on Friday night and then early the next morning. But, when 2:00 rolled around and it was 105 degrees, we were inside.
Good luck with your new team, coach!

All information given has been helpful; just basically looking for a competitive event that has some a few DII, DIII, APL, and PPL teams in it. No DI if possible, but that will not deter my (our) decision. I wish all coaches, players, and parents good luck this season.
