As always, the luck of the draw is huge.  Colleyville wins its bracket even though they lost to Fuego and FCD East in King Tut.  Fuego is now out and FCD is win or go home tonight.

In the same bracket, FCD Molina is through without winning a game (and 14 teams have more points in 3 games than Molina, meaning 3 will be going home while Molina moves on.)

Few head scratchers where teams that really get thumped one game still get through

For the most part the teams that should go through will.  For the few that aren't at that level, next weekend will probably sort them out.

Too bad it seems no one knows how seeding was done

All in all a good tournament, with a lot of good soccer played.

Don't know if Fuego and/or FCD East did it; but King Tut did allow up to 5 guest players.

Classic Challenge Seeding Empty NEGATIVE GOAL DIFERENTIAL?

Post by Gameday 04 8/1/2016, 11:45 am

Some teams are definitely benefiting by the luck of the draw and they know who they are?
Some teams are not living up to the hype and/or not playing the level they showed during tournament season which suggests guest players.
Even with the seeding issues, age pure conversion, odd number of teams in weekend 1 i think the league has put together a good tournament. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE METHODOLOGY FOR SEEDING WEEKEND 2??

Goal Differential Average:
5.3 Chelsea East
-0.7 Falls Town
-2.0 Colleyville
-1.7 FCD Red
6.7 FCD Kang
-1.3 DI Stars
3.7 Rayos
0 Crush
3.0 Solar Chelsea
0 Rebels
5.3 Xtreme

I agree that it was a good tournament. As I said in first post, I also think over 2 weekends the process will get the best teams to classic. A few teams could have gotten to second weekend with a different draw and a few would be off next weekend if they had been less fortunate in draw. Still, 5 teams above with positive goal differential are the best of the group and will do well in classic. Would like to know the seeding thoughts too.

WHO WILL BE THE (4) NUMBER 1 SEEDS????

From the Classic League:
...If teams are tied in points after a round of play, the following TIEBREAKERS
will be used to determine teams that advance:
1. Goal Differential – no maximum
2. Goals For – no maximum
3. Tournament Committee Decision

CAN THE SAME RATIONALE BE APPLIED IN SEEDING THE SECOND WEEKEND? If so this is how I see it;
TEAM. PTS. G. DIFF. G. For
FCD Kang. 29 +20. 21
Chelsea East. 28. +16. 18
Xtreme. *28. +16. 18
Rayos. 28. +11. 12

*Xtreme has one game remaining to play. Would their total points be recognized by committee if they surpass FCD Kang?
