Your son's team didn't make D1. Big deal. It's not the end of YOUR world. Be an adult and use basic decency and common logic in your arguments. Stop whining about the QT rankings and blatantly HATING on FCD. You know darn well that FCD Academy is the "King of the Hill" as it relates to U11 They've earned that and proven it consistently on the pitch... Now Rebel might have beaten the brakes off of your BBs team in the QT (which ultimately disqualified you guys), and you obviously haven't gotten over it..so I somewhat understand why you would hold them is such high regard... Yet in the first classic game, Rebels played a 3-2 game vs TXN South, so the jury is still out on just how good they really are .. Volkan's team will at some point have to prove their ranking... For now, be happy that both systems (GS and YSR) are still considering results prior to 07/01... Finally, here are some of the "common sense" objections we all should have with the GS rankings:

Do we see any issues now? It's so clear.... ask yourself: How is LP Carragher ranked as a Top 5 team? How are 2 PPL teams in the top 10? Who in there right mind, would rank 5 PPL teams and 1 Arlington Rec League team in their Top 25? .....Lastly, there are 8 D1 Classic teams (22/40 Classic Teams total) that are left out of their TOP 25 ranking... It's almost disgustingly inaccurate, and there's no way its more reliable than YSR, hands-down.

YSR is the most accurate, albeit imperfect, numerical model for predicting the relative outcomes of youth soccer games available.

GS is an almost arbitrary accumulation of points to rank the "best" teams. But more accurately just a statistic listing how many points a team has earned, and has nothing to do with whether one team is better than another.

They are completely different systems based on completely different concepts. In GS you can only gain points, you never loose points except for when games move out of the date window being used.  Their is no weight on goal differential.  The only "extra" weight of a game is based on if the team you beat had a bunch more GS points than you did. The teams that play the most games and/or tournaments will have the most points.

YSR does not weight the rankings on game volume like GS. It uses goal differential vs. strength of team (based on YSR rankings) and each game is averaged in. No extra points for playing extra games.

The downside of GS is the weight on volume of games played. The downside of both GS and YSR is the even weighting on possibly outdated games. (yes, both systems do this. It's just that GS doesn't start displaying data until U11 starts, it still holds on to points earned by teams playing up into u11 tournaments...a year from now you guys will have the same argument about GS that you have about YSR)

The ultimate ranking is how you finish in your league!!!
YSR is just to give you an idea of how teams MIGHT compare that have never played...GSR is nonsense point accumulation to stroke parents egos!

I dont have problem with carraghen. Have u seen them play since signing. they beat vulkan in QT and won plano laborday and looking at there record i put them ahead of RUSH and NTX CELTICS. just saying

Also, let's stop saying "Why does the rankings matter anyway?" ... we all know that development is the primary. Yet I'll be the first adult here to admit that I'm interested in the rankings. I especially care that they're fair and accurate (or at-least that the criteria is consistent)... That doesn't make me sub-human or care any less about development. I'm just a realist. My feelings about my BBs team doesn't change based on where our team's ranked either.  I'm sure that in each of our hearts, we'd all like to think of our BB's team as #1, so the rankings themselves will always disappoint most.

I'm just a competitive dude that really loves numbers... Deal with it.

Rebels better than FCD Academy is pure nonsense. Not saying they wouldn't have a chance against them, but better?...no way.

I don't think Solar5555's team played Rebels in the QT. Just guessing because in his earlier posts he couldn't spell Volkan, and he listed Solar Martinez as the best team in D2!

I don't think his BB plays for Martinez. Otherwise he would be ok with YSR rankings (#19 vs #28 on Gotsoccer).

His BB plays for either Volkan or McKinney/Lanier...Only 2 D2 Solar teams with a higher ranking on GotSoccer than on YSR.

I'd wager it's Volkan. Though if it is Lanier, he better hope Lanier doesn't find out about his postings, have seen him (Lanier) cut boys for much more benign parental actions.

Your point is taken. I can explain the ranking of FC Dallas Black above Rush (and in the top 20 for that matter) without endorsing the result. I do believe this ranking inequity is merely temporary. There is going to be a major adjustment after league points hit.

But back to your question: Why is Black ahead of Rush on GS? The only games that are included in the GS rankings to this point are tournament points accrued after August 1, 2017. Black and Rush have the same winning percentage in GS (3-0-1 or 75%). GS weighted the PLD tournament higher than it weighted U90's tournament. (I don't know why one is weighted higher than the other but it is.) So Black's semi-final in Silver had more point value than Rush's semi-final in Gold.

Actually ears, Gotsoccer includes all u11 and higher tournaments and league play from the past year in their rankings, not just those since July 1st.

A quick glance at Solar McKinney verifies this fact.

These teams just started being ranked on July 1st but points could've been earned far sooner.

Y'all please ease up on Solar5555. Have you considered that English may not be his first language? I don't know the dude but I believe we can discuss/disagree/pontificate without being unnecessarily petty?

Soccer is an international sport. I think it's fair to reason that some ESL parents are on this board too. I also believe it's fair to reason if you found your BB dissing a peer because of language differences it would not be okay with you.

OK, for the next month, everyone only post in a language other than English. I'm all for it. Will definitely end most of the discussions on rankings of 10 year olds..... Or at least shorten the debate and lengthen the response time.
