I've done a lot of reading about formidable players in the game of soccer as I try to educate myself on the beautiful game. One of those players was Sol Campbell. For those who don't know him, he was one of the greatest defenders of his era, and also one of the most taunted.

Taunting. Nasty. Mean-spirited, hateful taunting. He had to endure it for years because he was different.

I thought of him when I read all of those language posts taunting and making light of the cultural and language differences of posters on this board.

Its not a good look. It makes you look small. And rather than allow my silence to be mistaken for tacit approval, I'm coming right out to tell you that I'm offended by it.

My apologies to Solar5555. I may not agree with your hot sports opinions but I'm sorry grown folks resort to childish taunts and behavior at your expense.

D2 = 2817 Pts.

Now look at the rankings. Lets pick on FC Leon for a second. Nothing against them. They are a good team. They currently have 2218 pts. But look at how GotSoccer awarded them 1910 pts for winning a 4-team 4th tier tournament on Labor Day Where they beat 3 teams by scoring 15 goals and 2 against.

The way GotSoccer awards points to tournaments is a joke. If Arlington Labor Day Shoot Out Tournament is a 1910 pts tournament with 4 teams, Then Classic D2 should be 8,000 points...and D1 12,000?

Socceroo: I have a great sense of humor. It's simply not funny to me to see others make fun of people for how they speak or write. I wouldn't accept it as appropriate behavior from my 10 year old so don't expect a pass because you're an adult.

Yes, I've made some assumptions about Solar5555. Where some of you on this board think he intentionally misspelled Volkan's name in some nefarious attempt to disguise his allegiance or association, I think he was spelling in a manner consistent with a native Turkish speaker. Why do I think that? I've lived worked and traveled extensively. It ain't rocket science.

Further, I never said, wrote, or intimated that you are American. I did state taunting is nasty, small, mean-spirited, and hateful. Despite what you may think about Americans, we aren't the only ones capable of rude behavior.

Your points about the limitations of GS are well taken. This is me moving on...

Before you move on, please show me where I was taunting in a nasty, small, mean-spirited and hateful way....Maybe this is our cultural differences and bias at play. Please enlighten me so that we can all move on...

5555 seems to be able to spell team names and clubs that he thinks are overrated and over ranked just fine on here.


Also, there was mention of frisky unicorns earlier. I would with humans that think they are magical creatures and they would be offended as well.

If you post on this forum your opinion about 10 year old rankings, 10 year old "the right way" style of playing, and coaches that are doing the job they have been put in place to do (good and bad) don't be shocked that someone lights you up. If you are offended, maybe writing letter to your local newspaper would be more of your style.

Not sure this makes much sense as "Volkan" is Turkish, it would be pronounced "Wolkan", but still spelled Volkan. It means volcano.

These point totals are recalculated every year Based on how high the teams in the league rank nationally. Also you are deducted a percentage of your points when you place high enough to earn points, so teams with higher points get less points for winning tournaments and leagues than teams with lower points.

On a side note, did any of you see that Classic is running a small invitation only U10 league on Sunday? Top finishing teams get a bye into D1 without having to play QT next year.

Wish this was around for the 07s.

Dbldown -- It would be nice if they took the top 07 of the "D2" group and bounced them straight to D1 next year also. I mean sure they are playing teams that qualified "21-40" but still knowing the level of those teams and that competition it seems only fair.

Folks remember I just joined the boards and can't even figure out how to PM a person from my phone (I'll get one to you soon Soccerroo!) so the following point I make has probably already been widely discussed.

But could someone tell me WHY would this Uber select and very well run Soccer League run the 07 boys Qualifying Tournament with 60 teams in such a quick and cheap manner!!!! These kids have played for YEARS to get to this level and someone decides to do 20 groups of 3, play crossover brackets, and Walla your fate for The next year is decided because you have a single down game or play crossover teams where an inferior team' playstyle works great against you but not your bracket competition THAT YOU DON'T even play!!!

The solution is so simple and yes some team's would have had to play 2 more games on weekend #1 but it would have been a MUCH better competition pairing for the divisions.

Weekend 1

Friday/Saturday play the same 20 crossover groups.

Sunday - The crossover brackets that played each other play the following format. First in A plays 2nd in B and 2nd A plays 1st B. Then the winners of that play. The 10 teams that lost the 2nd game are #1 seeds in week 2. The losers of that second game play also. The winner is a second seed in week #2 and the losers are the 3rd seed in week 2.

As for the teams that finished in 3rd place in their division week 1. A3 plays B3 ... the winner is the 4th seed and the loser is out. This means the Top 10 of 60 are D1 and bottom 10 are tossed.

The second weekend you have 10 groups of 4 teams that are already seeded and run standard 3 game 4 group or 8 team where you had a semis and finals. Either way the 10 bracket winners from 2nd week end up D1, 2nd and 3rd end up D2, and the 4th place teams are eliminated.

Yes ... more costs ... yes more games ... but I am sure that almost EVERY team that entered that Tournament would have preferred paying a couple hundred more bucks playing a few more games and really ending up with better results that affect these kids for ohhh ... the next 2 years (rush, Vulcan, etc ... )

Okay rant over and no need commenting back. (By the way my kid is Celtic so we got the good end of the qualifying that happened) ... but as a true soccer fan I feel really crappy for those top 10 teams stuck in D3 and also those teams 30-40 that get to be manhandled by them this year.

This is exactly what will happen. The top 4 D2 teams will move to D1. Bottom 4 of D1 go to D2.

Lol my bad ... I'm confusing this with Lake Highlands. Still though that 1 weekend 3 game to decide all 20 D- team's is still just brutal!!!

McKinney over FCD 5-2?!
I wish I could have seen that one.

McKinney dominated the first half. Controlled the entire mid field and created chance after chance. They have also greatly improved on set pieces. Very well executed and very well earned. Congrats to Solar and the coaching staff for prep put into this game.

That’s a crazy result, I thought it was data entry mistake.

Mckinney has always been very good at set pieces from why I’ve seen

I saw the FCD Academy vs. McKinney game. McKinney's boys were very well prepared to play this match. They got off to a very fast start, and they executed their game plan flawlessly. I don't think they could have played a better match honestly. Kudos goes to McKinney and his team for a great victory against the best team they'll play. Its a great way to bounce back.

The only issue I saw were the Solar parents. Now I'll start by saying that I didn't have a kid on the pitch during the game. Yet, I noticed several times where the Solar parents were walking behind the FCD parents, cheering very obnoxiously. I take no issue with the volume of their chants, only that they were in the area designated for the FCD parents, and things could have easily gotten out of hand. Kudos the the FCD parents who showed class, and chose to focus on their kids and not engage the Solar parents who were clearly rogue. I'm sure McKinney doesn't encourage this nonsense, so I'm in no way claiming that all of their parents were behaving without class, only a few bad apples. (one older gentleman was a habitual offender...smh )
