DTRS 4, strikers 2
Game was tied at 2-2 in mid-second half. DTRS earned one and hit another on a PK.

Good even, entertaining game. Was impressed with how Amarillo moved the ball, and that back 3 and keeper are huge.

Dallas Texans vs Amarillo Lightning
Great game today Dallas Texans vs Amarillo Lightning. Although not scoring alot of points right now, Lightning is a team that dominates time of possesion in games creating tons of opportunities. Technically strongest team in this division. If they start scoring they will easily be top team in Division III. Predict they will be Divison II next year.

Wish that were true about being in DII next year, ASG, but unfortunately, we have dug a big hole for ourselves. These ties are killing our chances of advancing. We almost have to win out from here on out through the Spring and then get a little help from some of the other teams.

Well ALSC_7, seems like you're throwing in the towel already? There are alot of games to be played between now and June 2011. Just remember, ultimate goal is not to make the upper divisions, but to put your players in college. From what I've seen with ALSC Girls teams in Lake Highlands, your club seems to know how to develop players and accomplish just that. You suprise me with the negativity.

If that is your ultimate goal...you are going to be very dissapointed.
ALSC developing players? Never heard of them.

I saw this game as well and would agree that both teams fought hard and, I believe, took each other out of their game a bit. There wasn't any "dominating" in my opinion. If anything, Texans had many more threats than ALSC. Texans keeper only touched the ball about 10 times and most of those were in the first half. Just one of those days when it wouldn't go in. Great job by ALSC keeper and defense. Both are strong teams.

Re: 97B D3 Predictions Oct 23-24
Completly agree with you Rytmid on the Amarillo Lightning vs Dallas Texans game. There was no "domination" by any team, felt it was a great 50/50 battle. My statement was with regards to the way Amarillo Lightning handles most teams. Have seen them play many venues/tournaments.
It is apparent soccerrus2 that you don't have much history with the girls divisions. ALSC has had numerous teams play in the Lake Highland Girls Divisions, and their '91G team had more offered scholarships than any team that year. I know most of the coaches on that staff, and they are hitting around 80% success rate on putting players in college with scholarships. Their current '93G team doesn't even play league and has over 50% of their roster getting offers. I'd say that they are doing something right for being from such a small market. Understand that their current '94B team is sitting on about 70% of the players being talked to by college.
If this is not the ultimate goal soccerrus2, then you explain to me why parents would sink this much money into something unless you can get a payback in the end? I suppose that you could say professional level would be the utlimate goal, but that isn't realistic. That is the goal of the ASG players/coaches, to get those college scholarships!

You are correct, I do not know anything about girls soccer. What I have watched over the years makes me want to...lets just say its an inferior product.
Regarding college scholarships...you don't have a clue. You want to know how many current D-1 commitments from the NTX area? 6. They all play for Academy teams and they are committed to universities such as Davidson, Furham, Saint Louis, Oral Roberts, etc. Last year's local player of the year went to Buffalo. They won't come out of D-2 and D-3 classic league...for that matter very few from D-1....that is now dead.
You need to read up on Title 9. This has killed the mens sports except for American football. This doesn't mean your little BB can't play in D-2 or D-3 or intermural. Just don't expect scholarships. Academics is where its at and you can receive more money that route.
Payback? Watching your bb be a part of a team and sacrifice themselves for a sport they love.

Re: 97B D3 Predictions Oct 23-24
Soccerrus2, u are very correct in stating that most players are going to Division II schools or Division III schools. You are also very correct in stating that academics is the most important factor in recieving scholarships. But, as a former AD for Division I Junior College, and current asistant coach for a Div II College, soccer scholarship money is very available for those players who can play, and achieve in the classroom. In fact, we have more money available to us as coaches to offer these scholarships than ever before. With regards to Amarillo Lightning, all but 1 of their players have gone Division II, and that player went Div I (all girls so far). The '94B team will be the first boys team to graduate from their program. We'll have to see how it all turns out.
I also agree soccerrus2 that players should play for the love of the game. As a parent I sure don't discourage my child, in fact push my child to try and get all the available money in the scholarship form to help me pay for his education. If my son wasn't going to play in college, or I didn't believe there was a way to get the scholarship help, I could find a way for him to play soccer (for the love of the game) without the expense and policts of club soccer.

Again, you can't compare the girls with the guys. Are you the recruiter for Midwestern State?

Soccerus2, I am not a recruiter for Midwestern. I have been hired occasionally by several Universities (Division I and II) to recruit. But currently I am an assistant coach with the college, while pursuing my PhD.
