Good catch.... Thanks! The attempt is for it to be objective and just provide the only data that really matters in this discussion.

At the end of the Spring '10 season, I doubt the Classic League will be asking Axgrinder for his opinion on who should be in D1 vs. D2 vs. D3. Methinks the Classic League will be looking at a chart that is very similar to the "vs D1" section of this one to select their invitees for the '10-'11 season.

Here is a corrected (and expanded) version.

Top 10 - Page 2 U11-ex12

what, you mean Axx doesn't have a vote on the Classic League board? Man, from the way he posts he appears to know how everything will play out.
I always enjoy how two parents on the same team play of each other. You guys aren't the ones that were jumping up and down on the sidelines are you? C'mon Rip, if you are going to be the keeper of the facts, you are going to have to be more accurate. As far as my opinions, they will not be necessary, as results speak for themselves, much like this past weekend, something that you guys don't want to accept.
Like I said, I'm just trying to provide an impartial and objective, 40-foot view of where teams stand at a point in time. All this complex, strategy talk about "getting out-coached", "necessary adjustments" and "gift-wrapped goals" is way over my head. I'll leave the "heavy-lifting" to experts such as yourself.

And as far as accuracy goes, ya gets what ya pays for. I do however, provide full refunds....

Fair enough and to be quite frank, I actually enjoy your posts and statistics so the accuracy comment was just a little ribbing. Keep up the good work and when the forum starts generating a little revenue, we'll see if we can get them to kick some your way so that your work does not go un-appreciated.

2.Solar Red/DTS-the two most consistently best teams, both teams have a roster loaded with talent! SR-you can't tell who their dominate players are ever their bench players are fast and skilled! DTS- they have a tight defense, well skilled midfield and a deadly duo of strikers up top with speed and creativity!
3.FCD(suarez)-a proven elite team over the last year, don't let the "hic cup" at the puma cup fool ya! pretty much showed all the haters they are still the top FCD team and still a high scoring threat at anytime! they have a solid physical defense and aggressive midfield and a dynamic duo up top in those two fowards the left one is like a mini C.ronaldo and the right side is like a lil' messi! very electric to watch!
4.Andromeda Red- one win in SDL over FCD(suarez) doesn't give the nod over them? still unproven against the elite but they do play great possesion style soccer,we will see as the season goes on? I do have alot of respect for this team ever since they were River Plate Red!
5.Solar(crawford) all of the sudden have become high scoring machine! lets see if they can be consistent for a bit?

8.Chivas-the best independent team hands down, super quick and aggressive! they never give up!
9.Tyler azzuri-solid team with a super talented foward, very fast and physical with a solid defense, watch out for this bunch!
10.Barcelona/Gunners/and FCD Blue
Barcelona is an always scrappy bunch and the little left foward can make you pay bigtime if left alone! Gunners-fast and physical team also with a dangerous left footed foward! and my final pick FCD Blue this is the worst up and down team of them all but when their on they can go round after round with the top teams and then turn around and somehow lost to the #48th team ? I know i know it's crazy but i think when the new coach figures out where to position this bunch they will be very very tough to handle! I will go ahead now and predict the will finish higher then #10
so who's going to weigh in on the "bottom 10" of D1 rankings? which teams were surprises to make D1?

Top 10 - Page 2 Empty Top 10/Bottom 10

Post by Ironman67 8/11/2009, 3:28 pm

Kind of a weird thing to "forecast" the bottom 10, but I wonder Omega (no diss intended here honestly)...you have all three bottom teams that came out of the same bracket at QT. Is there a message in there or is that just coincidence? IMO that seemed like a "light" bracket-although in retrospect-three teams qualified D1 from it. If my calculations are correct Bracket J was the only other bracket to place 3 teams in D1 (FCFW, Chivas, Barcelona). Looks like 2 of your bottom three will have a chance to prove it on the field as ASG and FC Force have a rematch of QT week 1 of Classic. Club Classic will have their hands full with Solar Crawford. From Rip's objective chart it looks like FCD Blue and Atlectico Madrid have some work to do. Those would be my bottom two right now. They both have tough draws facing Andromeda Red and Solar Red respectively week 1. The Ayses Summer Classic won't clear up much as there are only two D1 teams involved (FC Force and FCD Suarez). Dr. Pepper will answer some questions with four D1 teams involved CC Oranje, FCD Gold, FWFC and Solar Red.

you know I didn't even notice that! but yea ASG is not the same squd without the Z-German/not german superstar and don't forget about the speedy #13 right foward who is also no longer there! FC Force(formerly TX Blitz) also lost a couple of key players don't get me wrong these teams are still solid teams but I think they are just the weaker of the top 20 and we will see it after the first season? maybe I'm wrong then great for them. I do think FCD Blue will pull it together before it's all said and done and Athletico madrid is a great team that stumbled a bit after their loss to FCD Suarez but recovered enought to make D1 ! we can all agree that the 99' group is a super talented group and that we will have alot to argue about not only with this year but in years to come! I really don't want to make a prediction on who will get knocked off but those two seem like the likely candidates as of right now!

Looks like FC Force (Blitz) lost to TLSC 99 Orange 0-4 in PK in semi of Ayses Tourney this morning. Will be FC Dallas Suarez v TLSC Orange in the finals later today. Didn't figure TLSC to be in finals of this tournament....

Wow, I didn't see that one coming! I figured that Suarez and Bily would be in the finals in that tourney. Those two played a 2-0 game yesterday which is not a bad showing for the Force (thought it would be more like 5-0 with Sosa and Benji up front for Suarez but Bily does have one of the best sweepers in U-11 in number 26). Guess Omega was right on in the analysis. If the Force can't beat a team that didn't even make D2 they will have a long year and probably wish they would have qualified D2.

Looks like one of the other bloggers got some info from the Ayses Tourney. FC Force lost to a team that didn't even qualify D2 in the TLSC bunch. Bily's team played well (at least according to the score) against Suarez's crew. I know FCD has a couple of dynamite forwards in Sosa and Benji but Bily has a fast and tenacious "D". So that matchup may have worked out well for the Force. You mentioned that the Force lost some players (I know there were a lot of "shake-ups" prior to signing day). I saw them play in QT. They have a new keeper who looks a little uncertain at times. They have a strong sweeper in number 26-kid has a third gear that few can match! It seems to me they used to have an asian kid that was good with ball control that played mid or stopper. I think he is over at Andro Red now? In any case, they will end up at the bottom if they can't score goals. Defense will only take you so far. If you want to win games, sooner or later you have to score goals! I agree that ASG is not the same team. They will probably end up near the bottom too with CC Orange (didn't fair well in Dr Pepper) and FC Force. I just thought it was strange that that bracket qualified 3 D1 clubs. As for the rest of the teams fighting to stay off life support the Classic season and Labor Day tourneys will answer some questions.

I really don't want to make a prediction on who will get knocked off but those two seem like the likely candidates as of right now!
well it looks like FCD(suarez) didn't really have any competition except FC Force but maybe they overlooked the TLSC team and paid the price for it! as far as the DR.Pepper tournament looks like none of the teams including the 3 other D1 teams could slow down the Solar Red Express! all shutout's in bracket play and a 4-1 win in the finals against FWFC and they only goal scored was a great shot/punt from way outside and just cught their keeper sleeping a bit from the lack of action the entire game! the solar red defense was to dominate in this tournament! cheers

Good for Solar! I kinda figured they were the class of that tourney. Sounds like you attended that one, or caught some of it at least. I have seen the Solar Red team play. Not sure they have a lot of weak spots-definitely one of the top 5. Still, the Texans Craft has been very impressive. I would like to catch the games when they play Solar and Andro Red.
Not taking anything away from Solar win, but is that little blonde kid, Gregor, still over there? I think he may have switched alliances to FCD Suarez. He was one of the top players on that FCFW squad. If you are a Solar Dad (or Mom, don't want to make assumptions) congrats to your boys! In any case, I agree that there is a lot of talent spread around in the '99 group and it wil be an interesting first year in D1!

Ironman67 wrote:Looks like one of the other bloggers got some info from the Ayses Tourney.

Is there a message in there or is that just coincidence? IMO that seemed like a "light" bracket-although in retrospect-three teams qualified D1 from it. Solar Red was going to beat any of the competition in either of the tournaments this weekend. At this point, the 99 age group is a three man race with the Texans, Solar Red and Texans South. Andromeda and Solar are the newcomers that have to prove they deserve to be there and FCD has to do what they have failed to do in the past against the top three.

Since you are a Solar or Texan parent I would expect that answer. The fact is FCDallas(Suarez), FWFC, and Comets Blue can play with any of those teams. I do believe there is a top 7 or 8 and then it falls way off. This will be proven and the standing will reflect it by the and of the fall season.

You just threw down the gauntlet. I'm gonna print this out and put it on my child's board. Nice challenge, we accept! Laughing

Actually, the end of the fall season will tell us very little about the top 10. If 1-10 are primarily playing 11-20, we will learn more about how good teams 11-20 are and how consistent 1-10 are playing. By the middle/end of the spring season when 1-10 are playing each other we will know how well the top 10 can compete with each other. The "throwing down the gauntlet" is kind of ridiculous since everyone always wants to knock off the top 3-4 teams anyway.

There's just one problem, I tend to disagree with his top 3 or 4 picks. Ok, Texans are number one, well-deserved and proven, but after that, I feel the other slots are up for grabs. No more guest players, no more switching players back and forth on the Texan teams...a lot can and will happen.

If your BB plays on a team that is 11-20 and beat teams 1-5 in the fall then you will be right. If not, then you can compare scores of common opponents after the fall season and draw some conclusions, but will still have to beat them head-to-head before anyone will agree with you.

Logically, its hard to disagree with his picks because they have a track record that put them there until somebody beats them. We all just have to wait and see what happens!

By the end of the year we will know what the rankings are. Seedings are done and over with and from here out they will earn what they get. Solar red, Texans south, and Suarez have shown what they have. Still haven't seen the Texan team play anyone and living off the Dynamo reputation is not enough. Andro red and comets look promising but it still waits to be seen. Pick what you want but the teams wins and losses will place them in the top 10. This is a competative age group with plenty of teams poised to make a big splash. Everyone is 0-0 and tied, from here you will earn what you get.
