Since we haven't seen most of the teams yet, this was a total guess, but I'm sure I am absolutely correct

DALLAS TIGRES vs DFW TEJANOS Tigres 3-0 based a PLD
KICKS vs TFC 98B ROYAL Richland Kicks 2-0 TFC lost alot of players and were still looking after signing day. That can't be good.
FC DALLAS YOUTH vs FC DALLAS PREMIER Premier 3-0; could be a long year but maybe big brother will take it easy on them
REAL MADRID vs DALLAS TEXANS SC Real 3-0. Texans are big but Real is better
PUMAS vs SOLAR SC 98B Solar 3-2 Pumas are better than PLD showed

FCD prem has some player, remains to be seen if they have the coach or chemistry.
The teams with no changes could be off to a strong start
Solar has the horses but can they put it together.

For week 1, agree with the picks of Patient and Go, which have the same winners picked, only some differences in the scores. Have to agree on Azzurri vs. the weakened Texans (Go didn't speak on that one). Will be interested to see whether Kicks actually wins this first one.

For the season, expecting D2 to come down to Ayses and Babel, with FWFC as the darkhorse.
At this point have to favor RM and Solar in D1. FCD Premier as the darkhorse.

Azzurri has picked up some new players. They will win promotion to d1.

Tejanos over Tigres 2 to 1... Tigres lost several players so I think Tejanos take them
Kicks over Royal 3 to 0... Royal is basically TFC team that was supposed to be relegated
FCD P over FCD 4 to 0... Not much to be said about this one
RM over Texans 3 to 0... RM has the same team from a year ago and with all the changes they will be tough to beat

Pumas over Solar 2 to 1... Very close game but Pumas edge out Solar.

The new players were picked up before the tournament. But this team hasn't played a game (before Plano) since last March. On paper at least I would have to agree that Ayses and Babel are the frontrunners.

That said, Azzurri has some kinks to work out. The coach moved players around a bit in different positions. The team allowed 5 goals (from one team) and easily shut out the rest. Granted these were not top d1 or perhaps even d2 level teams.

But, given the situation with pre-academy teams, I think the talent pool in d2 has been diluted a bit.

I'd be shocked (and quite disappointed) if the Azzurri are not sitting in the top 4 after the fall season.

Like I said, some team chemistry issues and player roles have to be worked out. This team is far better than the d3 team they were last year.

I guess Go99 is not as smart as he thinks he is--"Azzurri who?" 5, Texans Red 0. Weakened Texans team or not, I think it's a pretty impressive way to start the season for the Azzurri with only "D3 and Silver experience."

does not really mean anything... tournaments before the season begins are never an indication on how a team will perform during the season. Any on any given day a team can beat another team... that is why we play the games... if not the best roster would always win.

So was it FWFC White 1 - FCD Blue 0, or was it 3-3? I see both those scores on here.

Looks like Waco and Azzurri have come up to D2 to play, the old guard better buckle up! Actually Waco did get out of bracket in Silver, but lost in the first playoff. But you really couldn't seed them in Gold considering the other teams available. Maybe next year. But I still don't see how Ayses could give up 7 goals, something unusual must have been going on. If Azzurri beat Texans Red 5-0 then things must be worse with the Red team than I thought. Also interesting that Solar got tied, guess the reign is over.

I think it's relevant to point out that Azzurri got all their goals in the first half. Coach backed them off in the 2nd half. Basically played "keep away" and put a key player in central defense.

Score could've been easily 7, 8 nil or even worse.

This team is much, much better than they were last year.

The moral of the story here is that you can't automatically base everything on last year's results or tournament play.

Tough games ahead though. No question.

It was 3-3. FWFC was up 3-1 and FC Dallas scored 2 late for the tie...

I couldn't agree more. I was just responding to Freeatlast who used that tournament as some sort of guidepost or indicator of success in the upcoming D2 season.

Heard the Ayses keeper was a no show - I will let others more in the know chime in as to why - I heard a rumor.

I stand corrected on Waco Blast's results in Plano, but the point is the same. By your original logic regarding Azzurri's results (semi-finals in silver), Waco (quarter finalist in silver) should not have beat Ayses (quarter finalist in gold).
