Only familiar with Premier League West. Did U16 last year. Just added 2 travel weekends, Tulsa and Houston, and a few home games. I prefered the travel weekends to doing normal tournaments. Two days for two games. Got quality opponents without having to do the 2 or 3 games per day or 4 or 5 over the weekend. As the boys get older those tournaments sometimes become no more than injury ridden marathons.

We had a great experience - if you have a strong side - winning premier league qualifies you for regionals. Enjoyed playing different teams and liked the one game a day format.

U14 Premier League Empty Where are the Texans?

Post by Phoenix21 8/12/2012, 9:32 pm

I did notice that there a no Texans teams that are playing in the '99 Premier league? Does anyone know why? It looks like the 4 teams from NTX are Solar Red, Barca, FCD central, and FCD Premier...What's the story on this?

I think you have to have a certain amount of your previous year team players together to play in premier and don't know about Texans South, but Marcio's team did not stay together and don't think Connell's team had the required amount either.

Premier League dropped the 50% returning players rule this year.

If that is the the case then why would the Texans choose not to play? Are they just not that interested in the Regional/National tournament? They do play every year in the state cup that could get them a bid to regionals.. It does look like older Texan teams are participating in it...

Maybe they didn't want to do the travel - I think the driving trips are fun and we have had a blast with these types of weekends.
