The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club (TLSC) AYSES 92 team has won the DI Classic League Grand Championship for U-19 (2009 soccer year). The U-19 teams do not play in the Spring their last year. This is a back to back win after winning the Grand Championship at U-17 (2008 -2009) year also.

The TLSC 91 AYSES team which graduated last year also finished near the top of DI for (2008 - 2009 soccer year). Most of the 91 TLSC/AYSES boys are now playing in DI colleges including Northern Illinois, Louisville, West Point, University of Central Florida, Houston Baptist, Centinary, and others. The TLSC 92's have been busy attending College Showcases and expect to land many of their players in college.
There will be many changes for boys once they enter the age where players branch off in Academy League at U-16 and U-18. For those players who desire to stay in the Classic League at U-16 and above there are alot of opportunities to move to DI and DII teams with good coaches that will go to College Showcase tournaments and some will go to international tournaments.
Congratulations Texas Longhorns 92 players and families and good look as you prepare for College. Congat's TLSC/AYSES 92's - DI Grand Champions Back to Back Icon_cheers Congat's TLSC/AYSES 92's - DI Grand Champions Back to Back Icon_study

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought classic league year started in the fall and the grand champion wasn't determined until the end of the spring season.

Congat's TLSC/AYSES 92's - DI Grand Champions Back to Back Empty U-19 Classic League Fall Only - No Spring Season

Post by Soccernovice 11/15/2009, 10:59 pm

At U-19 year in Classic League, there is no Spring Season. Grand Championship of DI determined in Fall Season of 9 games. These boys are done with Classic League soccer now and focused on High School Soccer, Academics, College Showcases, and graduation from High School. There are some 92's on thi steam that are only Juniors and return next year to play again. These boys could decide to play for a U19 Longhorns team again and I believe they would keep the DI bye.

How would they keep a bye when there will be 10 teams moving up from U17 with a D1 bye?

U19 D1 Bye Rules:
Division 1 Qualifiers (10 Byes) (i)
A club whose team(s) finished among the top 8 teams from U17 Division 1 the previous year;
(ii)
The 2 highest finishing Classic League teams returning from U19 Division I the previous year (based on fall standings alone if the prior spring season was not played or was played in a "modified" or "alternate" format such as a spring Tournament), provided such team(s) finished in not less than 5th place in U19 Division I the previous year; and,
(iii) A club whose teams(s) finished among the top 2 teams from U17 Division II the previous year.

Got it...so there is a possibility of 12 teams in U19 D1. Makes sense.

Also...returning U19 teams must meet N+1, which is difficult for the top 2 teams, as many leave to play college ball out of the Dallas area.
