High School Soccer Programs
BB's playing H.S. soccer.
Has a tournament in Ennis starting tonight.
My question is why does his H.S. and Ennis ISD's tournament schedule only states the time as TBA? This also applies for tomorrow night and Saturday.
No one knows what time the games are.
Some parents will still be at work.
Last night, BB informs me that they are leaving for Ennis at 11am, but they still don't know what time the tournament starts.
Are the local schools setting H.S. soccer up for failure by keeping the attendance low?
The other students are still in class. They will not get a chance to see their friends play, like they do for football and basketball. Some non-parents may have relatives playing for these teams and they may be interested in attending the games with their families.
Since there may be more experienced H.S. soccer parents on this forum, can one of you explain the reasoning for this?

Re: High School Soccer Programs
I do not have the answer you seek, exactly, but do want to offer some remarks...
I love (at least many elements of) High School Soccer. It is easy to make a list of things I do not, as well: where it sits in the calendar year / weather may be #1.
I love the romance of the High School team having to get it done with only those players who are in district, contrasting to the "mercenary" nature of club soccer (I love club soccer, too).
I think there is something very primal about team sports that I enjoy (and the players do, too), putting on the colors of the school/community... Representin'..
So what I say to you is, "Take Heart!". Have you noticed that now on the results crawl at the bottom of the screen on ESPN you see results from EPL, La Liga, etc? This past season, I enjoyed watching college soccer games on Friday nights! That used to never be the case. What I am saying is... It is coming (slowly but surely) to you passionate fans. The game continues to grow.
Unfortunately, on a case-by-case basis (some of my HS Soccer Coaches friends would argue ALWAYS), there IS resistance to the movement, often from HS football coaches, athletic directors, district administrators, who (don't fault them) are passionate about other sports / do not share our enthusiasm for this game.
Don't let it bother you. We can make a thousand other similar analogies (at work, politics, etc.), but please don't.
Good Luck this season!!

Re: High School Soccer Programs
This only happens during the first 3 weeks of soccer during tournament times.
All of the other games will be played in the evenings. So friends and families can attend.
However, they tournaments have the schedules and times because they have to inform the referees of their dates and times.
Just my 2cents

Agree with Its Me. They have the schedules. Refs, buses, concessions, admins all have to be arranged and scheduled around the games schedules. You are experiencing another common problem of some HS programs, poor communication.

Nicely put
We've enjoyed watching the fire that has sparked in our BB to make sure he's giving it his very best...working hard to make sure he isn't overlooked because of bigger/faster/stronger upperclassmen.
