The deadline to receive releases from North Texas is April 1st. Looks like most teams have league games that go beyond the April 1st deadline. What impact do you think that will have on the number of releases that are requested?

I remember last year that was a significant increase in the number of releases requested over previous years. I believe this year there is a $25.00 fee for a release.

The impetus for a release is the freedom to search for another team without restrictions.

If you plan to leave the team, get the automatic release to rec by April 1, regardless of remaining games. Otherwise the coach/team/club has control over whether you practice or guest play with another team. Permission for practices necessary to June 1, permission to guest play to July 1.

That league games continue after April 1 ideally should have no impact on the number of releases requested. However...

I can see a number of players whose team is in danger of relegation gambling that it does not happen.

I can see widespread ignorance of the rules, people thinking that they must wait for league play to end, or passively not considering it until league play ends.

I cannot imagine that widespread satisfaction with club soccer, coach or team reducing the number of releases.

So if a player gets release to rec before April 1st then said player can practice and guest play in tournaments without having to obtain permission from former coach?

Yes, but they would still need to get a release from the Rec association for tournaments.

i don't think they get the release from the rec association. i think they get it from ronda who is with ntx. i have talked to a few parents who are not staying to finish off the season. a few 01 teams may be down to 12 or 13 players for those last few games.
