00 - Dallas Texans Fall Festival - Predictions

I thought that I would start another thread to get predictions for the rescheduled tournament. As the other thread indicated 4 teams chose not to participate (GLSA IL, Texas United TXS, FCD East, Chivas TXN)

Any predictions on bracket winners / overall champion?

houstonians don't have a chance..... JUST LEARNED THIS IS NOT THE WEAKER HOUSTONIAN TEAM LOL.... GUESS THEY HAVE A GREAT CHANCE

I am wondering what the status of the fields will be on Friday. Also all local teams will play after a long break with no training, while the Houstonians will arrive ready to go.

Ok. So I suspect that the ultimate question will be if the fields are playable. I suspect with the tournament being at Ross that the DT are more willing to play then parks. This said I only see some rain late (40% chance on Friday only). This projection is better than a few days ago.

As to the extra rest for the NTX teams, this might actually be good. I am sure teams will be a little rusty but overall I see the favorites taking care of business with Bracket A being the hardest (DT Red vs. Houstonians).

If the tournament is played then I see it going like this.

Bracket A
DT Red and Houstonians are top teams and having battled to a tie just a month ago, should finish tied at top and separated by goal differential.

Bracket B
Solar should win this bracket, but what effect does not practicing have on any of the local teams.

Bracket C
By far the toughest bracket. Comets have won or finished second in all premier tournaments in North Texas. Wizards coming off a strong fall season. DT PA just tied the southern regional champion at Disney and that GA team went on to win Disney, so the PA can do just fine playing up against the 99/00's.

Even though A & C have multiple top quality teams, second place B could sneak ahead if quality teams in A & C have trouble. The Wildcard spot will be the one to watch.


Semifinals:
Bracket A vs Wildcard: Houstonians vs DT PA (flipped a coin between DT PA and DT Red making it here)
Bracket B vs Bracket C: Solar vs Comets

Final:
Houstonians vs Comets and will go with Houstonians to win it Both teams qualifying for Dallas Cup.

Does anyone know if the Red Brackets are going to play this weekend

did not hear anything, so maybe we are playing!

Laroja - I am surprised by your selection in Bracket C. Do you think the Comets have lost ground to the NTX crowd? How about the Wizards? Tough team!. I am sure this will be a tough bracket regardless.

Anyway, my rational for excluding the Comets is that they are not ranked very high in Region 3 (#34 on gotsoccer). They may be the best team in Arkansas, or in Region 3 Central (they won the Premier League there, 8 won 0 lost). However, Houstonians are ranked #11 in Region 3 and won Premier League Region 3 West. Even better, DT Red are ranked #2, they were undefeated in PL, but only got the third place after Houstonians (-1 point) and Mana (same points but worst goal differential): they won the Plano Labor Day Tourney.
Wizards are a good team: I wish them good luck. Always nice to see smaller clubs win big!

why didnt midland united enter this tourney? would have love to seen a APL team win this tounrey   

We blew it back in November. Probably wouldn't have got the respect to be seeded high enough anyway. We did play a great game but barely lost to inner city mana last Sunday in San Antonio Copa Texans Tourney! I might add with a few weak players getting ample playing time and ZERO GUEST PLAYERS!!

You asked why midland united chivas didn't enter disc fall tourney. we missed the nov entry deadline....

First four games played tonight. Congratulations to the Wizards for their won against the DT PA team. Soccerdadrandy is a happy dad tonight  !
The Texas Toros team did not show up, so the DT Red won their game without playing   .
What's going on with the Toros? Will they show up for the other games? What about CL?
