Bracket A is SALTY! FCD is obvious my favorite, and I believe FPS Black will move on as well as the dark horse... That's my bracket A prediction...

I never looked any further than the 1st group, and saw that Andro, FCD, and FPS are all together... I will revise my prediction: FCD wins it with FPS Black taking 2nd in the tough group (just an endorsement of the little guy)... They are a quality side when they want to be...

Anyone see the FPS Black vs FCD game? I am think these 2 teams are the strongest 2 in bracket, and now that they have played it should make for some interesting games today and tomorrow... With a score of 1-0 in Favor of FPS Black, it must have been one heck of a battle... Any details??????

No battle, we have a busy weekend with PA and had an unplanned injury which made it impossible for us to play our full roster in the tournament, combine that with the fact that we have 2 injured players on our CL team and you have a recipe for disaster.

Our team has 5 dual rostered players, but we all work together and practice together and are a cohesive team. When we are missing 5 starting players it really creates problems with our game and we were totally caught off guard unable to resolve the roster change last night. On a positive note our GK did block a PK to keep it 1-0 and that's a good thing and we are proud of his efforts.

I expect that our team will be criticized for our lack of performance considering that we are ranked number 1 in the table which is why I laid it all out there so anyone can judge for themselves whether or not we just fell off the apple cart or had troubles as a result of our missing teammates.

This was not an epic battle and FPS is not going to be challenging the Top 5 anytime soon. We screwed up and they can ride this train as hard as they like because of the result they "earned" (They won and we lost) and if I was their coach I would go back to APL feeling like David who just beat Goliath.

Post by hanallalone 11/21/2015, 10:18 am

Well said PLF... I have not seen FPS in a very long time, and truly appreciate the info regarding a team that has beguiled me for quite some time now... That team is a hard one for me to figure out; sometimes they play extremely well, and other times they fall drastically short when you expect them to rise to the occasion (I was VERY surprised they did not qualified for CL this summer)... I guess that is just U-13 soccer, but for the most part that team usually plays smart soccer and has the ability to hang with strong teams... Since I have not seen them for a while, I may be 100% wrong about this, but I don't think last night will be the only game that FPS wins in bracket "A" (but like I said, they always surprise me)... Losing 5 starting players is enough to cripple the greatest of teams, and that is unfortunate for you guys... Your team is the top seed for a reason, and I'm sure you will bounce back and finish strong...

Any other predictions? DTS South looks to be strong... Will Texans 04' make any waves vs the 03's? Cruz Azul vs. AYSES? Andromeda vs FPS? Liverpool Owen making a run? Will ANY South TX team make it out of bracket play?

It's funny that you mention DTS is looking strong, I bet some of them might even look familiar too. Laughing

FPS is a very solid team. I agree with Hanallalone in that they seem to be inconsistent based on last year's results. It's hard to come to Arlington every other week and play 2-3 games and stay consistent and on your toes, in my opinion. My BB was the GK last night against them and his former teammates/my old team that we had since the ripe age of 6-7yrs old. So anytime the West Texas guys have a chance to put up a good showing for their old coach and to give it to their former GK, they seem to shine. Having dinner with FPS coach last night and explaining the missing pieces were PA players (some were on the bench last night) he was shocked and thought those boys were "older siblings of some of the players on the field." I told anyone that wanted to hear that #9 would be the difference maker and he was. Oh well. Looks like 8am at Russell Creek will decide Bracket A. Seems like DT 04s and DTS look strong this tourney. I'm guessing a Dallas Texans team wins it.

So I'm a little biased being a rather BIG FCD fan, but Andro will win it all if they stay healthy. They showed an edge and fight that impressed us today.

If they play the right line-up (moved some kids in and out...saw some good combinations of speed and size...one is a giant who was fast), they'll be very hard to beat.

My FCD players should hold their heads high. Just wasn't our weekend.

Not going to be there to watch, but I think it will be a very good match between FPS and Andromeda... I like FPS in this one if they show up to play, but you never know! Old Mother Nature is going to be a factor that I am glad that I don't have to deal with this weekend! It think they said it will drop into the 20s overnight... OUCH!

I saw that... 12-0 is a nice scoreline for them... I think that it will be interesting when they play a similarly disciplined team... I bet their confidence is sky high (it should be), and it should make for some inspired play should they make it past the 2nd round...

The Cruz Azul keeper was given a red card yesterday in the afternoon game (meaning he sits this morning). Might be the difference maker in Bracket B, but who knows. He is a huge asset for them. Tremendous player.

He is very good, and often keeps them in games... AYSES vs FCD Central should be a nice match to watch; both teams play possession...

FPS is the result of what happens at around age u13-u14 in Midland/Osessa TX every year. Two or more daddy coached teams merge. After the best players from the multiple teams come together and form one formidable team, they can compete with anyone. It's extremely difficult for the multiple (watered down) teams to get a fair "seeding" in the u11 classic qualifier and some parents won't commit at that early age to travel back and forth to dallas. So the u11 teams either play in a pathetic WTPL league or Arlington/Plano.

FPS has been a quality side for the last 12-18 months (for as long as they have been under the new name)... Coach and his brother are class acts, and the kids are very fortunate to have them as dedicated coaches of a small traveling club... Best of luck to those guys!
