Re: KSMD for '01 boys
It's very interesting that it's a Dallas Cup 2015 qualifier, almost a year in advance. The winner will play in the U14 DC. Surely this adds a high level of motivation.
I agree; Wizards and Sporting United will be the favorites to reach the Final.
The Kansas team usually comes to Dallas with a strong squad. EDDOA has brought strong teams to Dallas in the past, I'm interested in seeing how tough they'll be.
Che's boys took Sporting United to PKs in the State Cup semifinals. So they'll hope to make another run.
Anoranza, too, another semifinalist in the State Cup will be highly motivated.
DTS and FCD Premier were in the State Cup group of death with Wizards and FCD Che. Both came close to advancing, too. So they will again be strong strong squads. FCD Premier has been assigned Coach Gabby Gentile. So he and Pino will tag team to lead FCD Premier in this tournament.
This should be a fun event.

Re: KSMD for '01 boys
Sporting United played a swift and powerful game. They deserved the cup.
In spite of missing their top player (due to suspension) and their other striker hobbling around due to (an apparent long-term?) injury, the Sporting United played a very precise direct game.
They won most 50/50 challenges with their size and skill. Supporting players have filled the gap of their missing playmakers very well. Their defenders play stoutly and are quick to attack up the wings.
I watched DTS a few times from a distance. They defeated excellent teams from STX and KS to win their group. Then went on to defeat the Wizards to earn a their spot in the Final.
Wizards, along with DTS and SU are still among the three most consistent teams in D1.
FCD Premier and FCD Youth, have committed to every recent top level local tournament and held their own again. These squads give Wizards, DTS, and SU good challenges. They are still one or two playmakers away from competing with the top 3. The upcoming roster re-setting and coaching changes will certainly strengthen them for the upcoming year.
Anoranza has participated in the last three tournaments and have also impressed a lot of folks with their ability to score. They still play too much kickball. But they have dangerous strikers with serious speed and a very good defense. They tied SU in Ken Smith tournament. Expect them to make a big splash in D1 next Fall.
D1 teams missing from recent top level tournaments: Copa ESPN, State Cup and Ken Smith.

Re: KSMD for '01 boys
We watched the final and IMO South played better soccer. Sporting 1st goal was a high arching shot from approximately 40 yards out. Sporting's 2nd goal was on a penalty where the defender held off the attacker (questionable considering the physicality of the entire match). The 3rd goal by 23 looked offsides but the referee had a better vantage point.
It was an exceptional match filled with passionate players.
