Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Loading up the iPads with Google Translate and packing away sick days so that I have the 4 hrs a day to take kids back and forth to Dallas twice a day for 10 days. Getting a second job to pay for breakfasts and Dinners for 10 days, pay for gas and tolls.
Just stirring the pot.

How are the fields at Richland this time of year? I assume most pool games are there.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
They seem ok. I know that Moneygram has many of their fields covered (yesterday) and not being played on in anticipation. I believe many of the pool games will be there as well. Too bad the roads are a mess and its in a industrial area. Not too impressive to all of this foreign visitors IMHO.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Is it weird to anyone else that a team who won a qualifier tournament in the u14 gets a bye to the semi final? I could see maybe the quarters, but the semi is a big ? to me. They are at a huge advantage not having to play all week and then just jumping in fresh tot he semis.

I guess you are talking about the Young Champions Tournament. Last year the tournament was in Dallas at the same time as the first matches of the Dallas Cup. The Wizards won the tournament, the semi-final and lost in the final. I did not read anything about the tournament happening this year.

I doubt it is happening. If you do a search on Gotsoccer, the tournament is there but there isn't a link to a registration page. Also last year the tournament was advertised on the DC page, and this year is not.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Are there usually pretty good crowds for the older games or is it a typical game with friends and family? i assume that there has to be some demand if they are selling tickets

Maybe a few more for the foreign teams . Other than that it's a money grab but some of the games are good .

It's not listed in the "Multiple Ways for Dallas Metro Area Teams to Qualify" for the Dallas Cup...

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
It does say that, and this is how it worked last year. But it does not look like the Young Champions Tournament is happening in 2015.

go99 wrote:It is true. I guess if you leave the kids alone in your house with your kids but thats not a choice I made or will make.
And again if your kid does not dress or play then blame your coach or your kid or both not the DC. Either your kid isn't good enough and needs to work harder or your coach is a Dbag. And if he is then YOU are the Dbag who put your kid in that situation. Coaches don't become $#itty for the DC they are that way long before and the parents still pay them. BTW it's not to save money. Again I have argued before for sponsored rooms which is doable but was told it's part of the "experience" and based on the feedback from the kids it's true (i would still get sponsored rooms. Every team in the same hotel would be a great experience)
Hi all, I'm new on this forum, joined only because my son and his team are participating from NZ and because I can't be there, just wanted to get the feel from you wonderful people in Texas :-) Go99, you speak truth there. My son and team (not same as this Dallas team) won the Pacific region Cup and went to Nike Cup final in Manchester last July/August. Of course Nike paid for everything (flights, meals, accommodation, kits, bus to/from etc). All 20 teams plus coaches and managers stayed at Manchester University and shared same environment, food, rules incl curfew.. ManU team was there by default. Feedback was great! Boys exchanged their second play kits, if wanted to, toward the end of the week. Hoe-stay option was no available but we parents really appreciated Nike for this grand opportunity for our sons. Dallas Cup is nearly a 10 times bigger event so they'd need a lot more hotels to come to party in order to accommodate all teams but sharing a hotel with 4-5 other teams of same age group would be a fantastic experience for all! Our team is staying at a hotel throughout. Spent nearly a year to fund-raise. Home-stay would have been great, too, but if only our boys were wanted for the right reasons and would have been more than happy to meet the cost of lodging and feeding my big gut son ;-D Personally, if table turned, my family wouldn't hesitate to host a boy or two, free or not, and would be happy to be police-vetted in prior :-) Not long to go now!
