GotSoccer Bonus Points

GotSoccer awards bonus points for league wins, ties and wins over teams with over 200 higher points total ranking. These points have been added for teams wins in 2014 / 2015 CL and PPL as well as tournaments.

None of these points have been added for 15 / 16 leagues but WERE added for Labor Day tournaments, though the league game scores do show up on the team GS page (scores there, points aren't). FYI games for PPL were played in August and no points were added for the games that preceded Labor Day.

Does anyone know why these points are no longer being added? Got Soccer will only communicate with team coaches or managers. Since I am neither, I thought I would pose the question here.

Results Bonus Points
These are points awarded to a team for any win or draw in a GotSoccer events. A win is worth 30 points and a draw is worth 10 points. These points are awarded to teams regardless of their rankings.

Achievement Bonus Points
These are points that are awarded for beating a team that is either higher ranked than your team (200+ more rankings points) or a team that has placed in the USYSA National Championship Series at the state, regional or national level.

All bonus points are not awarded until AFTER the event end date. This includes bonus points. Points will not be posted until after the end date on the league, after the end of the season.

nobody cares about Got Soccer points except for overbearing coaches and parents that are only concerned with Ws and Ls, mainly Ws. good luck with your neverending search for success thru your child

If you want to see an alternative to the GotSoccer points system for rankings, check out www.youthsoccerrankings.us. Another dad on my BB's team turned me on to it, and I'm intrigued by the outputs.

His ranking system calculates a score based on prior 18 months of history and the score generated is a value that can be compared between teams to yield a predicted score. for example, if Team A has a score of 32.50 and Team B has a score of 30.60, then Team A is expected to win by 1.9 goals. If they tie or Team B wins, an up arrow shows for Team B, indicating they outperformed the expectation. If Team A wins by 3 or more, same result for Team A. If Team A wins by 1 or 2 goals, this seems to fall in the expected range. I'm sure these factors feed the ranking methodology somehow, influencing how much a team's score drops or rises.

I find his North TX rankings to be much more aligned with reality than Got Soccer, who may reward a team for a single tournament win with a big points number that skews the reality of that team's genuine standing locally for the next year. His rankings still raise some questions (e.g., is CA South really that deep and good, does a score fully reflect recent form or roster turnover, etc.), but to me they are a much more accurate picture of rankings than I've ever seen in GotSocer.
