When 2 Wrongs Make It Right?
In the EPL match this morning QPR v Bolton, a header goal from a corner kick was waved off by a statuesque AR, citing his inability to see clearly (or move slightly for a better view).
The ball was over the line by several feet as the Keeper swatted it out, hitting the underside of the crossbar before exiting the box. It would have been the equalizer for QPR, down a goal in the match and facing almost certain relegation in the league.
Just after the break, however, the opposite side AR failed to call offside on Cisse as he finished a chip shot with a quick flick off the outside of his shoe, giving QPR their deserved 1-1 score.
Ian Darke, the ever cynical commentator wryly stated a second wrong eliminated the first.
In soccer, anything is possible, and 2 wrongs can make it right?

when 2 wrongs mmake it right
In that incident if the right calls were made, one of the teams would have won the game!. Two wrongs don't always make a right!.

The technology is available to overturn missed calls like that. There is a strategically placed side camera that looks directly at the line, and the ref usually wears a headset. Why can't the booth help him make the right call? What's the big deal?
Speaking of changing the rules to enhance the game, what about eliminating the tie and going straight to PKs if a match can't be decided in regulation?

Actually I don't mind the ties. But if they did make a change I would like to see a 20 minute period of sudden death.

I agree to use technology to overturn missed calls…
And I don’t mind the ties (its part of The Game); some teams are play for a tie…

I hate makeup calls. Call an accurate game if you miss one, well move on . No making it up....

Re: When 2 Wrongs Make It Right?
The missed call was made up...by allowing an offside goal. I believe the linesman was trying to call an accurate game, but just didn't get his body positioned in time to get a good view. It happens, and when it does, there should be a way to correct the mistake before play resumes.
I like the idea of sudden death for league play. What if the game is still tied at the end of 20 minutes? Call it a draw or shoot it out?

NO TIES??? what an American way to look at the game. And you wonder why the rest of the world looks at us weird when we spout stuff like this.
Ties are part of the game. some of the best games I have watched ended in ties both with the BB's and the professionals.

PKs are part of the game. All am saying is allow them during league play. Trust me, it's not just an American perspective. Blokes from other countries talk about it, too.

I’m sorry; I got it wrong about technology… What I meant was using technology on a goal line only…
Football (soccer) should be a flowing game, with the least amount of interruptions as possible…
Finish1- can you imagine Canaries vs ManU 0-0 after 90 mins …. You would want it to end right there...
