Re: Fall Season So Far
Age for PA/DA is different than Classic.
PA/DA is birth year Janurary 01 forward
Classic is Aug 01 to Jul 02
Example:
U13 Classic is Aug 01, 2001 to June 30, 2002
U13 PA is Jan 01, 2001 and later.
In PA you will have 14 year olds playing U13....Makes no sense, but this is how it is set up. If you have a Jan 15, 2001 birthday you would play U13 for PA and U14 for Classic. (ODP is the same wa).

Not sure how that would work since Andro's U13 PA team = is Andro 02 Red in PPL2. Maybe members from Andro's DA team?
For PA it's U13, U15, U17, and
For DA it's U14, U16 & U18.
Definitely confused...
Andromeda's U13 PA team is an 01 birth year team. http://npltexas.demosphere.com/schedules/71667984/71668032.html
Some of those kids are born in late 01 so also 02 Classic league players and play on both teams.
PA is U13 and U15
DA is U13/14, U15/16, U17/18.
So, Vaquero's 2 PA '03 players for FCD Pino are late '02 birth year? That would make them U-12, which does not play this year, unless FCD PA U-12 have been placed in NPL for this season.
If not, wouldn't that mean by referring to them as "PA playing up", that they're playing up at U-13 PA?

late 02 birth years are U12
U13 PA teams are January 01 birth years. I would doubt any U12's are playing U13 PA with 14 year olds.
see my prior post in this topic about U13 PA birth years (some kids will be 14 but playing U13, this weirdness is true in all PA/DA age groups.

I hear the little one that plays up front for Pino is 11yrs old. It's that true?

I kind of doubt any kids with 01 birth years are currently 14.
I'm quite sure an '03 soccer year kid plays Fcd 01 PA. As most 03s are currently 11, he is probably 11. Shrug. A different 03 birth year kid played some 01 PA with Solar last year. I doubt they are stars vs kids 18 months older but they aren't in PA cause Fcd and Solar couldn't find anybody else willing to take the spot.

There are 4 young(er) players who *train* with FCD 01/00 (PA/DA). Three of them play 02/03 FCD classic as needed. The youngest one plays classic Solar 04.

Re: Fall Season So Far
You can't have it both ways. I am sure most if not all of the PA players were playing Classic the last two years. We brag about our BB's team when they beat a team without PA players and then complain when the PA players move down to play in a Classic match.

Must be some kind of favoritism going on or $$$$ under the table.
Classic League has really become a joke. There is no room for development when everybody is so focus on winning & keeping the D1 spot.
I've seen illegal older age players, style of play (kickball) , bring PA players to win games, coaching on the sidelines, etc...

To further clarify what Sprint pointed out, The Andro Red 02 team is Andro's U12 PA team which didn't have a league to play in with TEPAL folding the U12 age group. The league folded primarily due to the South Texas clubs not wanting to field U12 PA teams--some of the North Texas clubs still built teams, but took a different approach to get games (PPL, tournaments, scrimmages)

Goaliesrule wrote:Does anyone know what happened in the DTS vs Solar game? Was really as lopsided as 3-1 suggests?
I had the opportunity to see the game and it was a very good match. Both teams had scoring opportunities beyond what the final score dictated.
- DTS had 2 goals from set pieces and 1 goal from normal play.
- Solar had 1 goal from a PK within the first 15 minutes of the first half.
This game could have easily gone either way for the victory. Great job by both teams and a fun match to watch.

Not sure how it works with the roster, but it does seem to be an option.
Have no idea if any other teams will start adding additional players.
Will suck for the players that will be benched in favor of PA players, though.
IMO, this whole "developing players" crap that's always spouted is just that, crap.
It's about winning and staying in D1.
At U13, doesn't developing stop & playing to win start? Isn't that why teams qualify for Dallas Cup? Why would you want your team to play in Dallas Cup if you're still expecting your coach to develop your team.

I guess you're right.
I didn't look at it that way.
Maybe that's why there's a mad scramble to add PA players to shore up that 2nd or 3rd place spot.
I don't see LP Rush giving up the #1 spot this Fall.
LP Owen has their spot for the Dallas Cup after winning the Ken Smith tournament.
Why even mention development for these clubs if it's truly about winning with the most athletic players right now.
I wonder how many Diamonds-In-The-Rough are out there or have been overlooked due to these leagues goals to win now and MAYBE develop the studs a little more while making a fortune on the dreamers.
Also, from what I'm hearing , Andromeda started the season with their PA players.
They didn't add additional players for assistance.

Re: Fall Season So Far
I think it can be about both development and winning. Let's be honest, if a team does not win and drops a division, it risks falling apart and the coach no longer has a team. That is largely, if not totally, a parent driven phenomenon. I don't fault coaches for trying to do what they can to win.
But, they can also work to develop players at the same time, as winning and development are not mutually exclusive.
At this age, U13 and up, running up and down the field with athletes gets harder to do and win games. ( my uniformed opinion).

Sure most kids (and God knows parents..) would want to play in the Dallas Cup.
But the point is, what do you want from the game...long term? Win a few trophies? great!
You can win and develop players. But developing teams (and hence individual players) is a lot more difficult than playing kickball to the man child up top.
Because years from now, everyone else (that do develop game intelligence and technique) will catch up and pass the perceived 'elite' players.
It's not where you start...it's where you finish.

True. But so few top division coaches will risk doing both.
And parent driven phenomenon is what we have in CL.
Win now, or we're outta here.
I really do wish that other states aren't following what I'm seeing here.
It would be nice to watch TV in about 5 to 10 years and see the USMNT referred to as a powerhouse instead of folks being pleasantly surprised that they survived Group Stage.
