Your team will have their work cut out for them. You have a good defense and goalie. Settle the ball, maintain possession, pass to feet, keep shape, play space, finish! Good luck!

Liverpool and United. Not enough competition in APL.

Tejanos and Liverpool - that Tejanos team is fast, aggressive and scrappy.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
United--tough, scrappy, determined, but overall play fair. Nope, not their parent, just was impressed in a tourney last year.

I wouldn't count out United. I agree that two of the three teams that you picked with the same record are moving on. You need to check the math, you have 12 wins, 15 loses and 3 ties. You need the same amount of wins and loses and ties need to be an even number.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
Lots of hot sports opinions. Not much respect for the 2 teams from classic league. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I think it is going to be much more competitive than most think.

I agree. All of these teams have their future at stake. There will be some upsets.Seinfeld4 wrote:Lots of hot sports opinions. Not much respect for the 2 teams from classic league. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I think it is going to be much more competitive than most think.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
Quite interesting. These teams have more on the line than those playing the Memorial Day Cup for honor or bragging rights... these will certainly be more emotional, might be quite fun to watch one of these games. Better assign the best refs and security guards for these games!
So what are the rules for the challenger squads?
I think Classic teams are not allowed to bring in 'guest' players for regular season games and this feels like an extension of the regular season for them.
Is there a date after which new 'enrollments' not allowed?
Also, in the past, does anyone even check? How? Who?
How common is it for teams to back-date registrations?
I guess most won't care, but hey, this is an interesting topic. Based on the list there are only a couple of 'big' clubs here that might be capable of pushing the bureaucracy to even look at this.
Good luck to all teams playing by the rules.

Very interesting questions!
Rosters were locked after April 1st.
Classic League checks the rosters and paperwork at tournament check in.
Good question.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
I thought it would be interesting to go back and look at where the challenge teams were ranked in the Qualifying Tournament. Remember there were 48 teams.
17 DFW Tejanos
22 Liverpool
23 United
32 Comets
37 Dallas Texans
47 Triumph
Seeding for this tournament:
1 Triumph
2 United
3 Comets
4 DFW Tejano's
5 Dallas Texans
6 Liverpool
Link: http://www.gotsport.com/events/resultsgrid.aspx?EventID=8955&GroupID=107064
All the rankings, seedings and predictions mean nothing. Tomorrow at 9:15 the tournament begins and all will be decided on the field. Good luck to all the teams. May the best two teams emerge on Sunday at around 1:00 pm.

I totally agree. Seedings mean nothing. Each team must play every other team. Should be fun!

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
Now that they're getting a little more respect, I would think they want to differentiate their location by saying they are from 'Sunnyvale'!
