Re: 99 - Challenge Games
Now that they're getting a little more respect, I would think they want to differentiate their location by saying they are from 'Sunnyvale'!

I was very impressed with United. I think they are the class of this group of teams.

Looks like the Liverpool/Comets Red game will be the key game of the weekend. Good Luck.

They may seem a little edgy but will put my money on United! They are a "scrapy" well coached team!

My Liverpool comments was concerning the Liverpool / Comets game. As I stated in a earlier post - United is the class of the group of teams.

Yes, there are teams that have more class than others. I think all the boys on all the teams gave everything they had this weekend.

I wouldn't say better athletes, United has a tough, skilled team.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
Knowing that the 99 Texans Tarrant team got no respect coming in...just like to add how proud I am of the way we played. Since we only had 13 suited up, I'd say we at the very least held our own. Now, if we could learn to score goals... but you are VERY right about the API having little competition...only a few challenges throughout the year... But, the United team was by far the best team out there...after that, I'd say that if we played it again, all the games would be within a goal or two. Good competition all the way around.

Re: 99 - Challenge Games
unfortunately your going to have to go and recruit out of the rec leagues for a good striker cause nobody thats of quality is going to pay those club fees for a API or PPI team! good luck!nuchad wrote:Knowing that the 99 Texans Tarrant team got no respect coming in...just like to add how proud I am of the way we played. with all the kids moving around in the APL I think you are about to see 5 really competitive teams and 5 teams that are not.
Tejanos
Texas Lightning
FW United
Hurst
and we will see about the Texans.....they are losing some good players.
That is not the order of strength but just threw them
out there at random.
I will rank the teams after signing day once I know all the kids actually sign where they were practicing last week.

Maybe - but goal scoring has been the problem throughout...even before
those players left. Check out what happens when there is a loss...it's
generally not because we give up 3 goals, but that we scored none.
And, just an FYI, those players were gone for this last tourney, and if
I'm not mistaken, we were the only team to actually beat the Tejanos in
the challenge tourney...everyone else was forced to a tie. It will be interesting to see what happens. I'm looking forward to it.

the Texans Tarrant team let their team fall apart...most left because the coach/coaching director of the south division would never give a straight answer (welcome to club). so yes, they lost ALL their players. Some went to the Red South team playing DIII, most are now with Ft Worth United, a couple went to Hurst, and another to the FW Titans. It's okay, as well as the Texans were last season, I think most parents felt they were underachieving, and could have done better. I guess we'll see where the grass lies greener...

I think they all improved their squads. It will be an interesting season in the APL. I predict that it comes down to FWU and the TL....the top half of APL is strong but the bottom half will not be any good...
