Qualifying/Team Information-05 Age Group

21forever..... Thanks for the info. That seems foolish to me. There has been so so so many changes and now the seeding and brackets matter so much. I hope they know more about these teams than I do!! Are most of the groups going to be 3 teams? So we paid $850 for 2 games? Please tell me that I'm missing something??

From what I read they are taking 30 teams. Maybe I am wrong?

40 U12B teams. 20 in D1 and 20 in D2.

Anyone know how seeding was decided? Some teams got a cake walk and are going to cruise right into D1 without much effort.

I believe they said at the Managers meeting but I was not there. Who do think recieved a bad draw or an overly easy one?

Some of the top 20 seeds have extremely easy brackets despite only having a history of playing in silver or lower divisions.

They said that they got hold of every recent game that they could find and talked with a number of managers. The commissioner didn't explain the crossover game well and I think the crossover game really screws the 3rd group seed - They have to play the #1 seed in the opposite group.

A few opinions.....

1) I think they did a good job with the top 9 seeds. I'm not sure about Dallas Texans South... I wouldn't have put them #6 three months ago and that team hasn't played recently. Maybe they belong there and the selection committee probably knows more about that team than I do.

2) $850 for three games. Really?

3) They talked on and on about hydration and keeping the kids safe on hot days. Then they say canopies are probably not allowed for shade, but they'll let us know on Wednesday.

4) Where did the really good FC Dallas East Texas team go?? I heard they broke up, but where did those kids go?

That ETX team had a lot of talent, good question on where they went!  

850 for 3 games is highway robbery, hopefully the PIT will give us a better product than classic and we can join their leagues.  wishful thinking I know.

I guess playing in gold, silver, or bronze has no baring and you end up a top seed by winning regardless of the division.

Interesting on FCD ETX breaking up. Is that confirmed? I was thinking their game against Texans Stark 2 was one of the toughest games for a top seed at QT.

Also, if the third seed plays #1 in their bracket and #1 across brackets... I'm surprised to see FC Warryors as a third seed. FCD Molina and Kicks (when did Carillo go there?) will have tough games against FC Warryors.

Several other top seeds have pretty rough games.

A few of the groups with four seeds seem like real toss ups. I wouldn't be surprised to see several of those seeds not go through to D1.

Thats about right. If you make classic your team will pay about $250+ a game if you add ref fees, field maintenance fees and league registration fees. This is select and they will charge you whatever they want and guess what? Someone will pay it.

The rumor is that Carillo did not like the merger with Solar so he left and now coaching kicks 05 in QT

Maybe someone has some more information on this situation.

King Tut Bronze:
FCD Central Topletz 3W, 1L, 30 points
FCD Red Lopez 3W, 1L 30 points
ETX Wildcatters 2W, 2L 20 points
Ayeses Gold 0W, 4L 4 points

For Classic QT 05Soccerdad shows Ayses at #19. In Ayses' group, they play FCD Central Topletz. FCD Central Topletz won their head to head, 2-1, and finished on 30 points to Ayses' 4 at King Tut.

And FCD Red Lopez in the same King Tut bracket beat Ayses 4-1 and also finished on 30 points, yet they appear to be a #3 seed as they are playing against two #1's: Solar Castro and Dallas Texans South Adames.

How do those King Tut performances lead to Ayses earning a #19 seed and FCD Red Lopez getting a #3 spot in a bracket?

FCD Schmugge playing in silver and Plano gets a 15 seed?

This was going to be tough no matter what....a bunch of teams havent played anywhere recently and the ones who did play have a limited sampling; so its tough to gauge who's really a good team and who isnt. Like other seedings its the luck of the draw. Good luck to all.

FC USA beat FCD Gold, FC USA is seeded at # 20.

At least there will be 40 teams instead of 30 this year. No matter what there was going to be some teams ranked below or above what they should be. The age pure changes really made this year a toss up. I feel for everyone involved. Good luck to all of the teams.

I think Plano will be ok, Arlington on the other hand may be affected. I'm not sure Classic will keep 40 teams in the 05s & 06s next year, I believe it was done to help sort out all the AP teams throughout the two seasons.

Thanks for putting that list together.

If it's accurate, I feel bad for the 41 and 42 seeds. Why do they draw the overall 1 AND 2 seeds (includes a cross-over game)? Seems like that fate should fall to 65 and 66.

They filled the brackets using a snake method. So the #20 would get #21 team and the #1 would get the #40 and #41 teams.

I believe they did the same thing last year to the Roma 05 team. They had to play the #1 and #2 seeded team and get their butt's kicked. Classic told them they would then seed them higher in the 2nd weekend; they didn't but that's a different story for next week.

There is no next week for the 2005 teams.  This weekend will be their only weekend of attempting to qualify.
