Here is what I think the seeding will be (somewhere close to this). With this, then how will they align the brackts?:

1 E Tx United
2 FC Dallas White
3 Liverpool FC America Liddell
4 Dallas Texans Black
5 Andromeda FC Gold
6 Kernow Storm FC
7 TFC Blue
8 Irving United FC
9 Mansfield Samba Futbol Club
10 manchester united red
11 Dallas Texans North
12 Aztecas
13 AYSES Soccer Club
14 Dallas Tigres Real
15 DFW Tejanos Elite
16 DALLAS AMERICA SOCCER ACADEMY
17 Texas Tornados
18 Clockwork
19 Liverpool FC America Alonso
20 Amarillo Lightning SC

I'm new to this as I've relocated here from Houston where it's done differently but I've heard from the Classic League office that advancement will be based on performance over the two weeks. That is, there won't be teams qualifying based on results from just the first weekend but rather based on performance over the two week period. Each team should expect to play games both weekends and during the week. The exact format was going to be decided after the number of teams was set.

With that in mind, I suspect the teams will be seeded and groups generated based on that seeding. In my son's select baseball days, a serpentine pattern for determining groups would be used. Next, assuming 4 groups of 5 teams to make the groups even in number, you'd end up with something like this using the above seeding assumption.

Group Seed Team
A 1 E Tx United
A 8 Irving United FC
A 9 Mansfield Samba Futbol Club
A 16 DALLAS AMERICA SOCCER ACADEMY
A 17 Texas Tornados

B 2 FC Dallas White
B 7 TFC Blue
B 10 manchester united red
B 15 DFW Tejanos Elite
B 18 Clockwork

C 3 Liverpool FC America Liddell
C 6 Kernow Storm FC
C 11 Dallas Texans North
C 14 Dallas Tigres Real
C 19 Liverpool FC America Alonso

D 4 Dallas Texans Black
D 5 Andromeda FC Gold
D 12 Aztecas
D 13 AYSES Soccer Club
D 20 Amarillo Lightning SC

If using the gotsoccer rating, it would look like this (AMERICA PREMIER shows as being unranked when I looked):

Group Rank Team
A 11 East Texas United FC 00B (formerly AC Longview 00B)
A 35 TFC 00 Boys Blue
A 36 manchester united red devils 00
A 52 Tejanos 00 Elite
A 69 Dallas Texans 00B North

B 16 FCD 00 Boys White
B 26 Liverpool 00 Boys Liddell
B 37 Aztecas 00B
B 48 Clockwork 00 boys
B 71 Amarillo Lightning00B

C 19 Mansfield Samba 2000 Boys Gold
C 23 Dallas Texans 00 Boys Black Dallas
C 38 KernowStorm00B
C 47 Dallas Tigres Real Madrid
C 71 Liverpool 00 Boys Alonso

D 21 IRVING UNITED 00 BC
D 22 Andromeda FC 00B Gold
D 44 AYSES 00 Boys Gold
D 46 Texas Tornados 00B
D UR AMERICA PREMIER 00B

How to proceed from there, I'm not sure but perhaps play all teams in your group and cross play with another group. That would make 9 games per team. I guess you could do something like A/C, B/D in cross group play. Flame away!

This is a good question. Why would two team come in after the deadline?

Since the application deadline was Friday the two teams probably submitted their application on time and Classic just got around to processing their paperwork on Monday.

I would think that if they applied online, it would show up immediately. So I bet they contacted Classic League with a "Come on... its another $700 bills if you accept us" and had to drop it off at their offices in small unmarked bills.

There are a total of 156 teams playing in the challenge tournament. Quite a haul at $650/team... pirat

The question is of the 156 how many teams would not have signed up for the tournament if we did requal like last year. Definitely expect a bump was seen in total revenue though!

earlier format was limited to 8 teams per age group (9th and 10th in CL plus 3 each from Plano and Arlington). That limited participation to 56 teams in the 7 age groups playing. So they almost tripled the number of teams playing. Idea

The challenge tournament may have tripled but how many less teams are now playing in the KSMDT? Peter was robbed a little bit to pay Paul.

There are only 6 teams in the KSMT for U-13 this year vs 12 last year. So for the U-13 bb's total teams entered (Challenge + KSMT) for 2013 (28) vs 2012 (20). Definitely an increase.

According to their web site they are now associated with Dallas Texans. Therefore, I am assuming they may be taking a bye.

Taking a bye where? There are no bye's for the 8 CL D3 spots being filled by the top 8 finishers of the challenge tournament.

I would be surprised if the Texans (or really any club) gave up the opportunity to try and get another slot in CL. The DT slot coming down from D2 is guaranteed so why not try and take Waco and qualify for another slot for next year.

Given the tournament starting next weekend when do you think the schedules / format of the tournament will be posted? I know the board has spoken about multiple approaches and would love to understand the way the committee ends up going.

A friend of mine suggested/heard that Waco wanted CL to treat them like an out of town team so they could play two games every other weekend but since Waco was not far enough away CL would not allow it. Maybe Waco got tired of the weekly drive? This is just speculative and I would still like to hear from someone with first hand information. You are exactly right, though, about giving up a slot. Waco could have secured 1 of the 8 spots and then the Texans could have shuffled the deck in July to get their cake and eat it too.

Am I wrong or is the D3 00 team actually out of Arlington? Their team page has Arlington in their name however I cannot see the coach at all.

Does anyone know the format? So I see 3 matches and 6 brackets this weekend without any playoff's. My assumption is that everyone plays a second weekend in re-shuffled brackets to compete for the 8 slots? Curious as I have not seen anything published yet.

Here is the format: Top 6 in league (bracket winners)- next 6 (2nd place) playoff 2x3- then bracket winners in

http://www.ccsai.org/documents/QTFormat2013Classic.pdf

OK, just making sure I understand - 6 teams in the first weekend (Bracket winners).

2nd weekend are all the 2nd place teams from each bracket. Will have two 3 team brackets - and the winner of those 2 brackets gets in. Is that right?

It seems Group F has a sour deal... two classic league teams plus Mansfield Samba who play 1 age group up in APL D1.

I'd say F, E, & A look like the toughest divisions - but who knows. Even if you got a bum draw the first weekend, you get a 2nd chance the 2nd weekend if you can take 2nd place.

Definitely looks like Group F is the hardest group. I have to think that Samba playing up will put them on level with DT Black and Andro Gold. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner has 1 loss in that group.

How does everyone think the rest of the brackets will come out.

Just to get the talk going (and the board knows I normally don't do this) I will pick my first and seconds.

1st
ETU
FCD White
FC Premier (Giving them the nod but it really is a toss-up)
TFC Blue (Giving edge but is a toss-up)
LP Liddell
DT Black

2nd
DT North
Ayses Gold
Irving United
Manchester
Kernow
Andro

I noticed that too. They gave the APL and PPL the top seed in Bracket C and D. Perhaps this is a pre-set agreement that the leagues got position 3 and 4 from a strength perspective.
