CCSAI U11 Challenge Cup

FCD Blue won their bracket last weekend so IMHO, they deserve a decent seed. Watched the 2nd half vs. Manchester Red Devils today. Score was 1 - 0 Manchester at half, FCD Blue took the lead with the wind at their back 2 - 1 but Manchester came back to earn a 2 - 2 tie.

Tie breaker cold come into play today

1. Head-to-Head game results-winner will advance
2. Goal differential-team with highest goal differential against opponent will advance (Maximum of 5 goals scored per game)
3. Fewest goals allowed-team with fewest goals allowed will advance
4. Goals scored (Maximum of 5 goals scored per game)
5. FIFA Kicks from the penalty spot

Bracket A
No team is mathematically eliminated
Cyclones & FC Premier almost there, win or tie final match and they are in
Arsenal & Wizards must win 1 - 0 or by 2 goals to advance

Bracket B
Aztecas eliminated, can play spoiler vs. DTS Red
Big win by DTS Red over Andromeda to stay in the hunt
Andromeda in must win situation vs. undefeated Solar to insure qualification
Solar vs. Andromeda one of the best matches of the day

Bracket C
No team is mathematically eliminated
Manchester Red Devils vs. FCD Gold, huge match, winner is in. No guarantee for loser if they are shut out
FCD Blue in must win situation vs. Revolution. Tie breaker scenario likely here. FCD holds head to head edge, Manchester holds goal differential edge

Bracket D
Cinderella story, Mansfield Revolution, defeats Chivas & Azzurri and is in. Congratulations! Plays huge role in FCD Blue's fate in bracket C.
Winner of winless Azzurri vs. Chivas will advance. Azzurri advances with a draw.

Enjoyed watching some of the matches yesterday. Going to be a strong group of teams in DIII.

Was it a surprise / upset for Dallas Texans 02 Red STH to beat Andromeda Red 4 - 1?

Surprised Andromeda didnt make it. They are pretty solid, but lots of good competition this weekend. Of the top 4 PPL1 teams, the #1 FC Premier and #4 Azzurri made it. Andro and FCD Gold didnt. Lots of close games all weekend. Congrats to the teams that made it through.

I personally believe FCD Blue (PPL1, #7) is the biggest Cinderella story. The 6 teams that did not make are all good & competitive and will be out for blood next year. Congrats to all of the boys for the hard work.

Agreed. FCD Blue has the talent to attack from the sides or middle with a solid mid and back, but they did not click consistently it seemed, in the past. Either they hit their stride or added a piece or two. Rehardless, it's a good sign when a team peaks at the right time.

Andro Red missing it is a shock. They are very strong. FCD Gold had a good year and appeared to have added a/some boy(s) with a classic patch for the tourney, so I thought they'd be a sure thing. Regardless, Classic 3 will be tough. FC Premier winning the bracket with the tourney's top Classic 3 team, top APL team and another Classic 3 team was very impressive.
