OK. Fair enough.
Last year at this time, the 02 posters had a blast predicting the top 10-20 seeds.
I don't want to start any any trouble so i will wander back to the 02 threads, where i belong
Good luck at QT

Re: QT schedules released?
The 03 parents are laid back and mellow. They don't rank teams, rarely post scores and the active ones in the group are mainly left to post in other age groups as the 03s are flat most of the time. That may mean they have it in perspective better than the rest of us, or could mean they just don't know about this forum. For example, the 04s had a few hundred post thread about the Supercopa and the 03s had zilch. They had to resort to post in the 04 thread for grins.
On the other hand, they do have Number 13 and Odie among their ranks, so at least two of them slipped into the soccer mania that has inflicted the rest of the age groups.
I anticipate the QT will bring out some folks, but not too many.

Re: QT schedules released?
At this point its kind of moot as somebody else is gonna issue "official" rankings in a couple of days. And apparently I was just diagnosed with whatever soccer AIDS has afflicted the '02 and '04 folks. So here is mine:
1. Castro
2-10. Haters
11-20. Wannabees
21-30. Also-Rans
31-50. Probably happier in the long run.
Personally as a parent I would be embarrassed to go to the country club and talk with the other moms if my kid's team wasn't at least in the top 19 or so.

Re: QT schedules released?
The sarcasm, the trash talk, the flared tempers... Ahhhhh... This feels like home! I have to admit, I am visiting this board more frequently now just to see some of the accidental (but not accidental) shots taken! Loved the NWA thing embedded in the acronym you posted the other day! (Yes, some of us saw that) Number 13... Your post are great, and they usually have some good info as well! You obvioulsy know the scoop on all of this stuff, but so far have been kind enough to mix in some satire to keep those of us who can appreciate the lighter side of the process... I think it is funny how we all want to know how the teams are ranked... With all this interest, shouldn't there be a website created where people can make their predictions and eventually crown a winner? Those of you who have the ability and the time, set it up and post the link... Then we just need a trophy, and we can have ourselves a game... Keep up the good work guys; it is all good stuff so far!

Info from Managers meeting
I talked to a team manager this morning and this how he explained tournament progression for Classic QT:
13 Teams will advance after week 1 to DIV 1 Classic
24 Teams will come back for week two of the tournament
13 Teams will be eliminated after round 1.
The 13 teams that advance will comprise the 11 winners of the four team brackets plus the #1 and #2 teams in points of the two three team brackets (playing cross bracket games).
The 24 teams that will advance are the 22 teams that finish 2nd and 3rd in each 4 team bracket plus the 2 teams from the three team bracket with the third and fourth most points.
13 Teams eliminated are all of the last place teams in the 4 team brackets along with the two teams with the fewest points in the three team brackets.
The 24 teams that come back the next week will be put into 8 divisions of three teams, playing cross divisional games. Each team plays the other two in the bracket, 7 highest first place teams advance to D1 and last 1st place + all 2nd place and top 3rd place will go to D2..
If anyone know of any errors here, please let me know and I will correct.

Re: QT schedules released?
Seems mostly correct. Don't think week two is cross division games though.
Each team plays the other two in the bracket, 7 highest first place teams advance to D1 and last 1st place + all 2nd place and top 3rd place will go to D2.
But I'd prefer to not worry about week 2.

'03 QT Seeding
Here's my interpretation on seeding. Not sure how CCSAI turned the corner on the bottom bracket but believe the cross over at the bottom of the bracket is better than having 2 brackets of 3 at the top like they did last year. L & M could be interesting.

Seems like LFCA Hunt - Schell got punked in the last bracket. What a dumb way to seed the cross over brackets?

This is the only bracket that I think you may have gotten wrong. I don't think TL Black could have possibly been as low as the 12 seed. It's more likely that they were the number (maybe) #6 team. I think the bracket was moved to the bottom to make the cross over. Red South, however, probably was the last #1 seed (13) as you've shown. If you put L Bracket in the 6th spot, and M Bracket at 13, then redo your serpentine, I think that would be spot on. (that would make 5 4team brackets, 1 three team, then 5 more 4 team brackets, then the last three team bracket).

Re: QT schedules released?
Seems like the made the bracketing way too complicated. With 50 teams, I was expecting something more like:
10 groups of 5 teams. Play 4 games within your group.
10 winners are in D1
10 last place teams are out
30 teams (2nd, 3rd, 4th) move on to 2nd weekend.
Re-groups into 10 groups of 3 teams. Play 2 games within your group.
10 winners take the final D1 spots
10 2nd place teams take the D2 spots
10 3rd place teams are out
You could also have an alternate 2nd weekend by eliminating all 4th and 5th place teams after the first weekend and only taking 20 teams to the 2nd weekend. Make 5 groups of 4 teams each. 1st and 2nd in each group go to D1. 3rd and 4th in each group go to D2.
Personally, I don't like the format of the "7 top scoring (points) 2nd place teams get D2 spots... etc." Keep it simple.

Any potential Surprises?
Quick question for the group.
Who are some of the darkhorses for D1 in this week's (and next) QT? Are there any teams that you guys have seen that you think have a good shot, although seeded third or fourth?

Based on what?! Can't say I would agree with you. I think GDWilly was pretty accurite in his predictions although I would probably switch Solar Gold to 8 and LP Rase to 9. And LP Woodberry somewhere in the 20's. FC Figueroa probably higher to 18. This is based on the King Tut tounrament.

Those are not predictions, they are the tournament seeds. My '02 team recently played indoor matches vs. Odyssey '03 & Fort Worth Juventus '03. I think Odyssey is a lock to qualify the first weekend and I like Juventus' chances. They are a good side that had decent results in the Cowtown Classic & King Tut.

I didn't mean they will be the top 10 but they have a chance of getting in as 18-20. The question was which teams listed 3-4 in their bracket that have a chance getting into the top 20.

With the collapse of Castro Chelsea - Solar Gold and LP Rase/Elite have picked up some good players. Heard from a parent who was out at the TFC fields this weekend that LP Elite beat Trevino by a few goals and it could have been worse.

Qualifying for D1 will test your mettle
I think that spots 19 and 20 of D1 will be won by the teams that dig down deep and battle for it. The top 15 spots are going to be filled by teams that played consistently through league and tournament fixtures and the 16,17 and 18 spot will most "LIKELY" go to the strong teams that are inconsistent (you know who you are).
I don't see a clear advantage after that so it is "HIGHLY LIKELY" any team that makes it to the second week can secure those last two D1 positions with a little luck and a lot of effort.
Mistakes will be the deciding factor (strong teams that are inconsistent make lots of critical mistakes and have to fight their way back) and I believe that the competition for the last two positions will bring out the best in those teams.

FW Juventus is somewhat one dimensional. They don't give up goals because they put 8 players in the box. They rely solely on the long ball and speed up top. As long as teams track their 1 runner, they will not be in the game. I think some of the TUT results are skewed because of this. I watched part of one of their games and shooting on them was like a game of fooseball or something.

LP Elite has added a few nice players to the team and they are playing well. Team has lots of upside potential but certainly a bunch can likely say that. I predict they will finish top 5 when it's all said and done, but it's going to be a dog fight.
The scrimmage vs. Trevino was just that so don't make much of it. They are a solid team and will do well.

I agree about the dogfight. Seems like there was a lot of movement this summer. Guess it can be expected at this age. Just when I thought I knew youth soccer, everything changes!
