Scheduling during the Thanksgiving Holidays is a joke. Families leave for vacation and the league is blowing it. Tournaments are fine but regualer season games should be put off until the spring.

Boo hoo. So you postpone your trip by a day or two. Big deal. First, everybody moans and groans because they cancel the games. Then they whine when they reschedule them.

Maybe select/competitive soccer isn't for your family. We routinely plan family vacations around soccer tournaments...San Antonio, Florida/Disney, California, Colorado, etc. Most contracts tell you the best time to take family vacations, which is usually Christmas break and June, no mention of Thanksgiving or even Spring break.

Actually, I'll take my statement back if you let me...... It doesn't really affect our team unless the kids are tired from playing five games over the weekend

That's actually a legitimate concern...could play against or in favor of teams depending on the weekend's outcome. With most teams playing in tournaments this weekend, alot of kids will be worn out from playing 3-5 games. BUT at least we're getting the Fall season completed. I think CL officials have a done a good job handling the reschedules with this unusually wet fall we've had this year.

A loss to the Comets 2-1 that should have been more like 5 to 1? Are you still sticking with your predictions? One more in the loss column makes your mathematical odds a little worse. Tic....tic......tic.....
Don't go the path of 99srule, he's now disappeared after his FWFC predictions haven't faired so well, and they still have Suarez and Solar Red left. But I forgot, they're just as good.
A$$man, I am sticking with my prediction, but with a little change. Monday November 16th, 2009, Andromeda vs ASG (99's) 3-2 ASG. New Prediction 7-3-2. This will be a game to watch. Emotions will be high. Good Luck and may the best team win!!!
The score is what it should have been. Both teams played tough and we had good refs. There were only 4 shots on goal that even came close. If we want to compare shots on goal only, ASG would have won 7-5 according to my stat book I kept. Anyway, good game Comets. Also, the last ten minutes of that game was a turning point for the ASG boys. They have been struggling for several weeks, but it was like they figured out how to play together again, and think that there are some Comet parents that would agree the game had a different feel for the last ten minutes. I still wouldn't count ASG out of D1, we still have alot of games to go before May.

A$$man looks better. It reminds me of Kramer on Seinfield when he goes to the proctologist and sees the picture of the fishing boat with A$$man wrote across the back of the boat. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you the boys played a great game tonight. Chase had a hell of a shot from nearly midfield, that even an adult keeper would have had a hard time with. Referee was bad all around for both times though, especially when our player got knocked down from a charge in and he got the foul even after he got laid out from dangerous play. First goal was a defender mistake that should have never happened, but players are off at times and he was not kicking well. Bottom line though, Andromeda is a fast and physical team that is ahead of the other boys right now. I do believe in a couple of years they will be challenged, but they will still be strong and in D1, as long as parents do not destroy it. Hands down best game I have seen our boys play in a long time, and one of the best games I have seen in U11 all year. You must admit we came out in the second half though. Once again tell the boys Great Game!!!!

Well you can call me whatever floats your boat, no skin off my back (no pun intended). I'm sitting in a hotel room this evening and could not witness the game unfortunately. I did get a text when bb scored the first one, but don't know details. Luckily it was filmed so I'll break it down later. All I know is that we have not played well the last half of the season but found ways to win and now we have some time to work on it. Glad to hear ASG played well.
Just heard FWFC beat Solar Red and came to play tonight. I bet that's one that 99srule is happy he predicted incorrectly.

I will check it out and let you know. Might be able to sneak you a copy but don't tell anyone..... Andromeda hires a company to film three or so games during the season so the coach can use it with the boys and break things down. Obviously that is part of our fees I'm sure.

Well, the matches have been played, oh what fun. For the fun of it, let's assume that the magic number to make D1 is 33 points (it should be somewhere close to that). Lets also leave ties out of it for now (although that's where Solar, Barcelona, and the Comets have gotten 4, 3, and 3 points respectively from). In order to reach that magic number, here is how many games (out of 9) each team will have to win;

FCD Suarez - 5

Sure it will not end up exactly like this, but it gives you a good idea. The schedules for some of the lower teams will get easier, but it does not leave much room for error. Even if the magic number is 30 points, it will be an uphill battle from Atletico down, and it should be a dog fight from Solar Red to FWFC.

The other stats that sounds critical to me is the capacity for a team to score goals. Solar crawford with 13 should be concerned and I don't see how gunners with 9 (even if they may have played hard teams, and stronger defense) can pretend turning everything around now. I don't give much chance to a team that needs to win 8 games but have scored only 9 goals in 10 matches....ASG with 17 goals looks much better to me

Agree with you, some of these teams are having a hard time scoring. For the record, I don't really think that you will need 33 points to qualify, because of how close most of the teams really are. But, teams like ASG will have a tough time regardless of how many goals they've scored. In order to make D1, they will need to win a few games, and look at what they have left;

Two comments on the above statements:
1) I have been told that 30 points nearly always keeps you in D1, so the 33 point threshold that someone proposed may be a little high.
2) Dismissing teams with a negative goal differential at this point in the season does not take into the account the strength of schedule. If a team gets blown out by multiple top 4 teams and then wins 2/3 of the remainder of the games by 1 goal, that team will make it into D1 without alot of sweat. The problem in judging teams at the midpoint is that there is a vast difference between teams in their strength of schedule to this point. That will even out by the end of the season, but now the differences have been substantial.

I would agree that the number of goals scored has some prognostic value, but that should be interpreted in the context of the strength of schedule at this point in the season. For intance, Solar Crawford has a low numbers of goals at 13. Other teams have a similar number of goals scored, but in many cases their schedules have been more difficult to this point. Examples: CCO has scored the 9th most goals, but has had the 3rd most difficult schedule to this point. Solar Crawford has played the 13th most difficult schedule AND has scored the 13th most goals. THAT is a bad combination.

I am going to qualify this by saying I am bias. Like the solar team, but istead of just looking at the goals scored what about the goals against. The most goals given up is 2 and that was against craft. Moving on to D1 will be about winning games not how many goals you can score. They are a difficult team to score on which always puts them in a position to win games. I expect they will be in D1 along with solar red (as long as they stop pulling a FWFC on me)
