I'm tired of SMASH BALLERs winning.

The coaches yell, clear it!

The parents scream, boot it!

They all cheer when the ball is slammed 40 yards past the touchline.

Booting the ball without any rhyme or reason is just a reaction to a screaming parent or coach.

Not so fast. Bracket B is proving to be as strong as it looked. Mathematically still winnable by any of three teams. Hopefully the third place team gets the wildcard. All three teams deserve to be in the league.

True, I hate this point system.it's ridiculous that a team can beat up lesser teams then lose against it's rival and still win the division on goal differential . Head to head should always be the deciding tie breaker.

I bet the NTXStrikers in group B would agree with you!

That was a tough group! 4th place team only had a -2 goal differential.

Soccerisgood123 - I have to agree with you on the head to head - BUT were you not aware of that rule BEFORE the game? Everyone played with the same set of rules. Sometimes knowledge is key. At least bracket B was fortunate enough to hang on to a deserving wildcard spot. Bottom line is Top seed in a bracket HAS to beat the 3rd and 4th seeded teams in a bracket - that didn't happen - they lost to a "lesser" ( as you put it not me)team. I could feel a bit more compassion with the whole head to head argument if they had beat the 3rd seed, since FCD beat a team that the Strikers LOST to in the same bracket.

Looks like D2 consists of FCD Gold, NTX Strikers, Mansfield Samba, Chivas, Liverpool Chamber, DT White, DT Wolf, TFC Angell, FCD West, and Ayses Black (last one might be wrong). Out of the 20 D1 team, FCD has 5, Texans have 3, and Solar and Liverpool each have 2. Think that's the best showing for Liverpool to date, correct (esp. when they both qualified first weekend)? FCD adds 2 teams in D2, as do the Texans.

Here's the list of who went where (let me know if I made a mistake somewhere).

Notes:

  • D1 was sorted by week in (first or second) and then points earned (adjusted to account for 3 team brackets). Order might be slightly off as I did not use goal differential to sort ties.

  • D2 was sorted by bracket standings (1st before second) and points in bracket (goal differential was used to only for in/out).

  • The out list was not sorted

Post by TxHunter 8/14/2011, 4:25 pm

Good lessons here for the next years groups. A look at the seedings from 2nd Weekend:

1st Seeds - 4 Classic 1, 2 Classic 2, and 1 DNQ (Barcelona - great defense, but you have to be able to score too)

2nd Seeds - 3 Classic 1, 4 Classic 2

3rd Seeds - 3 Classic 2 and 4 DNQ

4th Seeds - 1 Classic 2 and 6 DNQ

Last game of Qualifying Ayses Black vs Olympians - both teams had to figure a win was 8 points minimum and would have gotten them into Classic. Everybody has a chance to make classic if you make it to week 2. Your team has to perform.

It also helps to get a favorable draw ... 4 out of 5 teams Olympians played in the QT made Classic League.

OMG, it really has nothing to do about the children. It seems that the issue that the failure of your son's team to qualify for CL really has to do with you and not the boys. I suspect that they are happy to have the opportunity to play a game. You just cannot let it go. The fact that you have to rationalize relegation to the rec league after conitinually taking up space on the forum last week with your criticisms of the QT draw system, does nothing more than demonstrate your overinflated opinion of yourself. I am sorry. It is just getting old.

Seems like more than one overinflated ego is obsessed about what league they ended up in. Have not even played one game in CL and your denegrating the other leagues. Laughing

Rec league? Really??? There are some quality teams and very good players in those leagues (APL and PPL). Pretty poor form from you and coaches pet.

Criticize jack of speed... absolutely. He is whining more than a hungry newborn and deserves everything you sling at him.

Denigrate hard working teams (some who are very good) with a bunch of 10 year old boys on them... shame on you. Pause and take a moment before spouting off about other peoples' kids. I'm sure your little boy is perfect in everything he does and raises all the teams he is on to champion level. How blessed you are to have a perfect one.
